HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut’s health insurance exchange is adding more enrollment fairs to help up to 18,000 people who no longer qualify for Medicaid health coverage to enroll in private insurance plans.
The additional Access Health CT fairs will be held July 30 at the Charter Oak Health Center in Hartford and the Southwest Community Health Center in Bridgeport. Staff, counselors and brokers will be on hand.
Legislation passed last year reduced the income limits for parents and caretaker relatives of children enrolled in the state’s HUSKY health insurance program. Eligibility for what’s called the HUSKY A program dropped from 201 percent of the federal poverty level to 155 percent. The change is expected to save the state about $87 million.
The HUSKY coverage will expire July 31 for affected individuals.
