STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A Norwalk man was arrested for allegedly squeezing his ex-girlfriend until she lost consciousness and holding her against her will after he broke into her Stamford apartment on Tuesday.

Police say they responded to the Woodside Green Apartment complex to the report of a female who was accosted and held against her will by her ex-boyfriend. Police say the ex, identified as 30-year-old Bhaumik Patel, had used a key he kept from when they were dating to enter into the victim’s apartment when she wasn’t there.

When she came home, police say Patel emerged from her bedroom and she began to scream. Patel then squeezed her around her torso causing her to lose consciousness, before putting tape over her mouth and forcing her into a chair.

When the victim regained consciousness and pulled off the tape, he covered her mouth with his hand until her cell phone rang. Patel let the victim talk on the phone so the caller wouldn’t be worried. While he was distracted, that victim ran to a neighbor’s apartment to call the police.

While the victim was calling police, Patel also called the police to tell them what he did. He was then arrested on the scene and charged with Home Invasion, Burglar, Unlawful Restraint, Assault, and Disorderly Conduct.

Patel told police that he wanted to “teach her a lesson” because of how she “mistreated him.” He is now held on $200,000 bond.
