HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — State Senate leader Donald Williams has lost a bid for the president’s job at a state community college near his hometown in northeastern Connecticut.
The Board of Regents for Higher Education announced Friday that Carlee Drummer will be the new president of Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson. Drummer currently is an administrator at Oakton Community College in Illinois.
Drummer and Williams were chosen as finalists for the Quinebaug job, which drew more than 90 applicants. Williams, a Democrat from Brooklyn, is retiring from the Senate this year after two decades in the legislature.
The regents’ board on Friday also named new presidents of two other community colleges. James Lombella will lead Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield and Mary Ellen Jukoski will lead Three Rivers Community College in Norwich.
