WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A limited lockdown is in place at both VA locations in West Haven and Newington due to a potential threat.
West Haven VA Public Affairs says they have been notified of the potential threat and that there is limited access to some buildings at both facilities.
People must be prepared to show ID to access the buildings.
V.A. Connecticut Healthcare System released the following statement:
“On May 20, 2014, VA Connecticut Healthcare System was notified of a potential threat by an individual to the West Haven Campus. As a precautionary measure we are temporarily limiting access to all exterior doors (Newington and West Haven campuses) with the exception of Building 2 and 5 (main entrances – West Haven campus) and Building 2E (Newington Campus). Please be prepared to show proper identification to VA Police when asked. We are currently working with both state and local law enforcement agencies. There is no immediate danger at this time.”
The incident is under investigation.
