Good morning! A dry and colder day ahead today with jacket temperatures and a cold wind. We’re tracking a quick-hitting storm for Thursday. It’s a tricky forecast for most of CT, but the best chance of accumulating snow is in NW Litchfield Hills and northern Tolland County. The Shoreline is more likely to see mainly rain, and the areas between, may go from snow to rain back to snow. Quiet weather returns on Friday, and the weekend looks mainly dry with decent weather to ring in the New Year other than a rain or snow shower after midnight Saturday night!

Today: Sun and a few passing clouds. Breezy and colder. Highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Dress for 30-35.

Tonight: Dry and chilly. Lows in the 20s.

Thursday: Rain/snow mix developing mid-late morning. Most places get heavy rain for the afternoon. Wet snow likely far NW CT before the rain tries to change to wet snow before ending 8PM-Midnight. The best chance of accumulating snow is near the Mass. line. Highs will be in the middle 30s inland and low 40s at the Shoreline. Winds picking up late in the day too.

Thursday night: Rain and snow may change to all snow in most of CT before ending quickly 8PM-midnight. Turning colder late at night. An early estimate is for several inches of snow in the NW Hills, a minor accumulation (1-2″) for most of the rest of the state, and NO accumulation within 10 miles of I-95 along the Shoreline.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Colder and windy. Highs in the upper 30s.

Saturday: Breezy and cool with passing clouds. Highs in the upper 30s to around 40.

New Years Eve: Mostly cloudy with temps near freezing at midnight – that’s not too cold for New Year’s Eve! A rain or snow shower possible after midnight.

New Years Day: Sun and clouds. Mild for January 1. Highs in the mid to upper 40s Shoreline, and low 40s inland.

Monday: Sun gives way to clouds, rain or a mix likely at night. Highs in the 40s.

Tuesday: Mix over to rain with highs in the 50s.
