Spartanburg, S.C. (USC Upstate SID) – The USC Upstate men’s basketball team is back in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament for the third time in four seasons and will host the Furman Paladins in the first round on Thursday, March 16 at 7 p.m. inside the G.B. Hodge Center.

The Spartans and Paladins will be meeting for the first time in program history.

Upstate finished the regular season with a 17-15 overall record and 7-7 mark in the ASUN. The Spartans tied for fourth in the conference standings and were the fourth seed in the ASUN Men’s Basketball Championship. Senior center Michael Buchanan became the third player in school history to be selected as First Team All-Conference by the league, joining former Upstate men’s basketball players Ty Greene and Torrey Craig.

Furman claimed a share of their first Southern Conference regular season title in 26 years after going 21-11 overall this season and 14-4 in the conference, and will be playing in its third CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. The Paladins are led offensively by Southern Conference Player of the Year Devin Sibley at 17.7 points per game while Second Team All-Conference selection Kris Acox contributes 12.7 points and a team-leading 7.5 rebounds per game.

Everyone attending any CIT game must purchase a ticket, including current USC Upstate season ticket holders as well as students and faculty & staff who normally receive free admission into games during the regular season. Current Spartan season ticket holders will have their existing seats reserved and can pick up their tickets on Thursday, March 16 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. in the G.B. Hodge Center lobby. Students and faculty & staff may purchase tickets in-person on Wednesday, March 15 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the CLC and 2 p.m.-4 p.m. in the G.B. Hodge Center lobby. The first 200 student tickets given out will be free of charge. However, once that allotment is gone, students will have to purchase the tickets at $5 per person. The general public can purchase tickets at the main entrance of the G.B. Hodge Center beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
