DECATUR – The Homeward Bound Pet Shelter received some more financial help from the Decatur community today.

Friday morning County Market on Grand visited the pet shelter and presented a check for $2,294.11 to the shelter.  The grocery store raised the money from a one-day brat cookout last weekend.

Linda Clary is the shelter’s supervisor and she says they are buzzing after receiving some community support.

“This kind of support is the reason we are still in operation,” says Clary. “We operate solely on donations and fundraisers like the one County Market put on are the only reason we can keep our doors open.’

Clary says the money will go directly towards care for the animals.

“Every animal is fully vetted, spayed and neutered, and that costs money” she says. “We also need the money for food and just general overhead costs.”

The Homeward Bound Pet Shelter is a no-kill pet facility and a job training program for people with disabilities.
