(WSLS 10) – The National Weather Service holds a SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training course today in Wythe County. The course focuses on storm formation, tornadoes and winter storms. It starts at 6 p.m. at the Max Meadows Fire Station.

The Virginia Tech Athletics Department unveils details about its Twenty4You Campaign. It’s an effort to increase the fan experience during home football games. Improvements include new concession offerings, improved stadium signage and increased parking shuttles. The enhancements are a result of surveys filled out by fans last fall.

A one mile stretch of Route 705 or Beaver Creek Road in Floyd County will be closed starting today. Crews will work to replace a culvert. You’ll need to find another way around this area. Work is expected to take about a month.

The Journey of Hope bike ride arrives in Danville today. The group of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity members are riding across the country, cycling about 75 miles per day, to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities. They will arrive in Danville around noon.

A Roanoke County woman charged with a subsequent DWI offense will be sentenced in Roanoke. Tracie Nininger was arrested in October of last year. According to court testimony, her blood alcohol level was .25, more than three times the legal limit. Nininger entered a guilty plea in April. The charge carries a minimum one year prison sentence with a maximum of five years.

The man accused of leaving town with a Christiansburg teenager has a pre-trial motion’s hearing today in Little Rock, Arkansas. Back in January, Donald Quesenberry was found with Aysia Lewis after a four days search. In Arkansas, he is charged with theft by receiving. In Virginia, he is charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
