YEMASSEE, S.C. – News 3 told you about a group of monkey’s that escaped from the Alpha Genesis lab over the weekend.

In 2012, News 3’s Holly Bounds went out to Morgan Island which is devoid of human residents but home to thousands of monkeys.
The monkeys are bred on the island and are used by facilities like Alpha Genesis to test potentially life saving medical procedures and tests.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have expressed disdain for companies like Alpha Genesis who use the monkeys for these purposes.
Morgan Island was home to over 3,500 monkeys when Holly visited in 2012.
