The tri-county area was once again well represented on the annual North-South Football All-Star roster. Of the 44 rosters spots for the “North” 6 were from York, Chester, and Lancaster Counties. South Pointe’s Cort Neely, Northwestern’s Caliph Brice, Lewisville’s Mike Hill, Chester’s Malik Williams, Lancaster’s Ant Foster, and Nation Ford’s Alex Stennett will get an opportunity to play in the annual game held at Myrtle Beach’s Doug Shaw stadium on December 10th. Each of the six, however, may miss the game if their teams are still playing in the playoffs. Due to Hurricane Matthew, the start of the SCHSL playoffs has been pushed back until November 18th, meaning the state semi-finals will be played the same weekend as the Shrine Bowl. This forces North-South All-Star selections to make a decision as to what game they will play in. Last year, due to the SC Floods, South Pointe’s Nick McCloud and Greg Ruff missed the North-South game as they were playing in the 3A State Championship game. The North-South committee did say that all selected players would still be honored as a member of the All-Star team even if they don’t actually play in the game.
