Additional information in Dunlap Roddey shooting investigation

YORK COUNTY, SC – York County Sheriff’s Office investigators continue to evaluate evidence gained in the investigation of the triple murder suicide that occurred on July 5, 2015, at 985 Dunlap Roddey Road, Rock Hill, SC. As previously released, investigators believe that Randy Moore shot and killed Anna Hubbard Moore, Jason Lockamy, Lora Kathryn Young and then took his own life.

The investigation has revealed that, although there was no indication or reports to law enforcement of previous physical violence between Randy and Anna Moore, there was marital discord between the couple. There was no sign of physical violence or struggle before the shooting and at this point in time no specific motive for the shooting has been identified.

The physical evidence at the scene leads investigators to believe that Anna Moore was the first victim to have been killed while she was inside the residence. It is believed that Randy Moore then went out the back door and quickly encountered Anna Moore’s son, Jason Lockamy and Lockamy’s girlfriend, Lora Young. Randy Moore then shot each of them. Moore then went back inside and shot himself. The gun, a Springfield XD .40 caliber handgun, had been purchased by Anna Moore in 2010. Randy Moore was federally prohibited from owning a firearm due to a previous felony conviction. Forensic examinations by the Sheriff’s Office firearms laboratory confirmed that all shots were fired from the same weapon.

The deaths were first discovered by a close family friend who was an invited guest to the home that afternoon. Upon entering the back yard, he discovered the bodies of Lockamy and Young. Emotionally shaken from the discovery and unable to use his cell phone, he went to the Handle Bar to get help from mutual friends. Two individuals from the bar went to the residence to confirm the situation. Three calls were received by 9-1-1 in close succession: one from Anna Moore’s daughter who had been contacted by Randy Moore’s son, one by one of the individuals who went to the home, and one by Randy Moore’s son who had been contacted by an individual at the bar.

The investigation is still open as investigators await the results of toxicology and further evaluation of evidence collected during the investigation.

WRHI has elected not to publish the 9-1-1 calls.
