Since his departure in August of 2014, former WWE creative writer Kevin Eck has not been shy about the company’s past workings. Most recently, Eck discussed the “lazy” booking of the WWE Divas division.
Following the April 27 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Eck took to his blog, The Eck Factor, to discuss the legitimacy of WWE App voting. Within the showing of “Raw,” the WWE Universe had the power to pick Seth Rollins’ opponent(s) for “Payback” through the WWE App. As always, some fans were critical of WWE for what they believed were “rigged” fan votes.
Eck, however, explained that during his tenure with WWE, which spanned for more than three years, all of the voting was legitimate.
Eck wrote:
“I don’t work for WWE anymore, so I can’t answer that with absolute certainty. All I can comment on is what I witnessed during my three years on the WWE creative team from 2011 to 2014.”
“In this unprecedented peak behind the curtain, I will now reveal the shocking truth about the fan voting.”
“It was all completely legitimate.”
“I know many will be skeptical, but it’s the truth. I can tell you that there were times when I and other members of the creative team suggested to Vince McMahon that we work the results to get the desired outcome, but he always refused to ‘compromise the integrity of the voting.”‘
Check out Eck’s entire post, here. He went on to discuss how the writers would try and come up with polls in which the choices were similar, or polls where the results would be obvious. Eck even reflects on a meeting with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in which Piper did not believe the voting was legitimate.
Editor’s Note
I think Eck is telling the truth. WWE tends to make the choices similar or very obvious, so there would be no need to rig the vote.
