ATHENS, TX – Hosted by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Elder Chrysler-RAM-Jeep, the 31st Annual Henderson County Go Texan Rodeo promises to be one of the most exciting yet!

Contestants compete in events including Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Calf Roping, the popular 21 and Older Women’s Calf Scramble, and Bull Riding.

In addition to the rodeo, the Go Texan BBQ Cook-Off will take place on Saturday. Awards will be presented to first place brisket, first place ribs and first place chicken with overall awards presented to Grand Champion BBQ, Reserve Champion BBQ, and Best Display. The entry fee to participate in the BBQ Cook-Off is $100 per team.

Following the rodeo on Saturday night, there will be live entertainment by Texas Country singer Randy Brown. The concert is free with the purchase of a rodeo ticket.

Gates open each night at 5 p.m. and the rodeo kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at the Henderson County Regional Fair Park Complex, located at 3356 Highway 31 East in Athens.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the gate and free for children ages six and under. Tickets are available at the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Elder Dodge, Cavender’s, Citizens National Bank and First State Bank.
