While many Nokai fans are sad, including me, but the Nokia to Microsoft brand transition for devices and properties, which Microsoft acquired when the device division moved into Microsoft, seems to be into the final phases of the re-branding.

In an interview with the awesome Conversation guys, Tuula Rytilä, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Phones at Microsoft said:

Our global and local websites are going through a transition as we speak and in the coming days our social channels will get a new name too – they will be called Microsoft Lumia. We would like to invite our Lumia fans to continue to follow us and always be up to speed with the latest device news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

This work continues across our devices, packaging and retail, to name a few. It’s all going as planned and we’re excited that our integration in to Microsoft continues to be on track.

She also said, that future devices will have Microsoft Lumia branding instead of Nokia, and they are looking forward to unveiling a Microsoft Lumia device soon. . I am expecting this device to be the next flagship in the Lumia series which had been missing since the announcement of the Lumia 1520.

A lot of rebranding has been going on as we see accounts on Twitter, Facebook etc being changed to Lumia or Windows, wherever necessary. Microsoft is in fact now focusing more on Windows than Windows Phone as the platform will soon be unified when final version of Windows 10 ships out.

That said, Microsoft will still use Nokia name in feature phones and there are plans to come out with more of these devices. These devices are pretty important for market like India where there is a huge demand of feature phones and Nokia still has a rock solid reputation.
