All eyes are on the White House National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn’s alleged conversations with Russia. Both political parties seem to be worried about what could come out from President Trump’s investigation,. However, the public needs to be reminded that in 2008 Obama’s campaign was accused of secretly meeting with Hamas and Iran.

Depending what took place between Obama’s reps and Iran in 2008, they could have violated the Logan Act, a law that prevents citizens from bargaining with foreign countries that are in dispute with the United States.  Whether Hamas, who rules Gaza Strip, qualifies as a foreign government is certainly debatable.

Breitbart reported on Wednesday, Robert Malley stepped down as an informal foreign policy advisor in 2008 when the media released he met with Hamas members. Malley admitted that he met with them, but claimed it was part of his “private” job.  The job he was referring to was Middle East program director at International Crisis Group.

Malley claimed he distanced himself from Obama’s 2008 campaign because he felt that his Hamas meetings were becoming a problem for the campaign.

“I felt that my meetings with Hamas were becoming a distraction to me and Senator Obama’s campaign, and avoiding any misperception — misrepresentation being the more accurate word — about the candidate’s position regarding the Islamist movement.”

Later, Malley joined Obama’s cabinet and in 2015 was appointed to lead the Middle East desk of the National Security Council and Barack’s special advisor concerning the Islamic State.

In 2014, Michael Ledeen, a former consultant to National Security Council and U.S. Defense Department, wrote an editorial at PJ Media claiming that Obama created a back-channel to Iran during his 2008 campaign.  He stated that the each of communication went through Ambassador Williams G. Miller. Ladeen claimed that Miller disclosed his involvement with him.

It doesn’t really matter if Obama or Trump’s administration violated the Logan Act, as all incoming transitional administrations must open the communication between the U.S. and foreign governments.  Even so, the media won’t stop looking for a huge scandal, and this time, it looks like they may not find one.
