BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwired - Sep 22, 2015) - Acquia, the digital experience company, today announced its expanded Europe operations with the opening of its new Munich office and the launch of its Frankfurt data center. With data centers now located in Germany, Ireland, and eight other regions around the globe, Acquia is the only Drupal platform service provider to offer pan-European support for high availability sites that accommodate EU data sovereignty requirements. Acquia announced its expanded European operations this week at DrupalCon Barcelona.
Businesses are increasingly moving to public cloud services, including many companies in highly regulated industries such as financial services, life sciences, and healthcare. Data sovereignty is a critical consideration for these organisations. As the European Commission moves forward with its proposed European Data Protection Regulation and works to give citizens control of their personal information, Acquia is thinking ahead in creating multi-region EU cloud services that meet the latest, evolving standards for privacy and data protection.
"The great enterprises of Europe are all undergoing a transformation as digital continues to disrupt every industry and sector in society. Demand for our open cloud platform is driving Acquia's growth across Europe, as we help organisations harness Drupal to develop powerful enterprise applications that unify content, community and commerce," said Martyn Eley, general manager of Acquia in EMEA. "We are committed to helping our customers gain greater agility in delivering amazing sites, and we are confident that by making key investments in both our team and cloud platform, we can help our customers do just that."
Acquia has more than doubled its headcount in Europe during the past year to serve the growing demand for its open cloud platform, particularly in media, entertainment, publishing, government, transportation, higher education, and non-government organisations. To support its growing customer base, Acquia also recently appointed Michael Heuer as area vice president and country manager for central Europe (DACH + Benelux), and Birgit Baier as area vice president for strategic alliances and operations in continental Europe. Acquia customers include Saint Gobain, Veolia Environnement, RTL, TUI, Burda, Aegon, and the European Commission.
Organisations rely on Acquia to build, deliver, and optimise digital experiences. Global organisations across all industries use the scalable, highly secure Acquia Platform to launch and manage one, dozens, or hundreds of sites at breakthrough speed. Real-time customer analytics and personalisation help organisations deliver the right experience, at the right time, to the right device.
