This involves creating separate and redundant systems to provide staff and partners access to all organizational environments; ensuring that all systems and data are operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; and ensuring the productivity, reliability, scalability, sustainability, security and accuracy of these systems and data.Responsibilities* Optimize NWEA's hybrid on-premises and cloud (AWS amp; Azure) LAN/WAN performance. This includes, but is not limited to, configuration and support of Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, network access control (NAC), ASA firewall, remote access using VPN, and an IBM fiber network.* Identify technological gaps, assess and determine requirements that meet technical and business needs, present options and recommendations to management, and plan and lead implementation of technical solutions.* Monitor and install network operating system and equipment firmware patches and updates* Create and maintain server components, network technology roadmaps, documentation for all network architectures, baselines and procedures * Install and configure 3rd party application components* Implement, troubleshoot, and administer VPNs, VLANs, load balancers and firewalls* Perform system audits and document findings * Perform Capacity Management for bandwidth at all NWEA sites* Provide support for mobile and remote office users and provide senior-level consultation regarding networking configuration and quality* Communicate plans, status, and issues to management and work with project managers and ITS team members to set priorities* Foster good relationships with partners and staff* Contribute to the evaluation and selection of network toolsJOB REQUIREMENTS: Skills, Abilities and Experience* Senior level understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing and subnetting, including MPLS, NAC, IPS, BGP, and VLAN* 5+ years leading an engineering team in identifying technological gaps, requirements discovery, reviewing potential solutions, presenting options and recommendations to management, planning and leading solutions that meet technical and business needs.* 5+ years demonstrated experience deploying and supporting production networks, firewalls, and WAN connectivity technologies* 5+ years demonstrated experience working in live production/mission critical environments* 5+ years demonstrated experience administrating and supporting virtualized server infrastructures supporting both Linux and Windows operating systems* 5+ years demonstrated experience managing and maintaining centralized storage infrastructure servicing iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS/SMB storage protocols* 5+ years' experience supporting and administrating Active Directory for centralized access control* Recent, hands-on experience administrating VMware virtualization, Cisco and network infrastructure, and NetApp storage, as well as related management amp; monitoring tools* Demonstrated knowledge of fiber fabric switching, SAN architecture and configuration* Ability to perform advanced configuration and management tasks within Linux and Windows operating systems* Functional knowledge of cloud infrastructures such as Amazon Web Services and Azure* Experience with Microsoft and Open Source technologies, including SOA, Web based and Client server solutions* High degree of technical aptitude in developing skills using available tools and software for the purpose of testing/improving network availability* Ability to innovate and create options for HW configurations with existing hardware* Ability to clearly communicate with non-technical personnel* Good collaboration, problem solving, organizational and team facilitation skills * Commitment to follow project plans and documentation requirements* Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and set priorities* Ability to think critically and clearly under pressure as well as the ability to work under tight timelines and schedule* Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Visio)* Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills* Excellent written and oral communication skills* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including ability to document existing and newly-developed procedures* Demonstrate excellent team skills, collaboration, a positive attitude, Initiative and self-motivation* Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and perform after-hours maintenance operationsEducation and Certifications* Minimum bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree* Certifications: CCNA (or higher), with CCNP and MCSE or RHCT preferredBenefitsNWEA's generous benefits package includes: 100% employer paid medical, dental and vision insurance for eligible employees; company-paid public transportation, indoor bicycle racks, and free on-site parking; convenient location near public transportation near the Pearl District in downtown Portland; additional monthly compensation in the form of flex pay; and a 15% annual employer contribution toward our 403b retirement plan.
