District Manager, IT Technical SupportJob #ISM997STARTING DATEWithin a mutually agreeable time, as soon as possible after acceptance of the position.BASIC FUNCTIONUnder the direction of the District Director, Information Services, this position is responsible for a variety of administrative and supervisory duties related to the planning, organization, and management of District computer and network operations and related technical support activities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDuties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.Plan, organize and manage the day-to-day operations in the computer and network operations center and other related activities such as system software analysis and equipment maintenance.Plan and coordinate a variety of assigned departmental functions and activities to assure efficient, effective and secure operations.Provide technical expertise and information to a variety of District and campus personnel concerning user requirements, system capabilities and compatibility with current systems.Compile, review, and analyze information related to computer operations; prepare reports as required concerning departmental activities.Analyze and review computer hardware and software needs; provide recommendations and assist in determining appropriate utilization and acquisition of computer equipment and associated software licensing.Coordinate communication with Information Services personnel; provide technical assistance and guidance.Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in computer and network technology hardware, software, peripherals and related equipment.Schedule and assure the maintenance of desktop computers, software and network equipment to maintain proper and efficient functioning.Train, supervise, evaluate and direct the work of personnel as assigned; participate in selection and hiring processes.Plan, organize and arrange appropriate training and staff development activities; provide orientation for new employees.Organize, attend or chair a variety of administrative and staff meetings as required; serve on committees and special projects as assigned; coordinate programs and services as appropriate with other District and college personnel; communicate with campus and District personnel as needed to exchange information, provide technical expertise and resolve issues.Learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.Perform related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree, preferably in information/computer systems or related field from a regionally accredited institution.Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in computer operations and technical support, including one year in a supervisory capacity.Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSPossession of an advanced degree in information/computer systems, business, management or related field from a regionally accredited institution.Project management experiences.Experiences with systems and/or network administration.Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems.SALARYThis is a designated classified management position subject to a one-year probationary period. The initial salary placement range is $98,982 - $125,245 annually, 12-month position, plus an additional $2,600 annually for an earned doctorate from an accredited institution. Initial salary placement will be determined by the Office of Human Resources in accordance with Board Policy and is not negotiable.BENEFITSThe District is a participating agency in the CalPERS Hospital and Medical Care plan which allows eligible employees to select from several plans for their hospital and medical care.
