Founded in 2009 by Dan Benjamin, 5by5 has grown to become one of the largest podcast networks around, with shows appearing in the iTunes Top 10, What's Hot, and New Noteworthy sections on a regular basis. 5by5 is home to shows like Back to Work, The Crossover, The Frequency, In Beta, Critical Path, The Big Web Show, The Pipeline, and more, with hosts including Dan Benjamin, Merlin Mann, Horace Dediu, Gina Trapani, and Jeffrey Zeldman.
We're seeking a highly organized, detail-focused, proactive, and personable Associate Producer to help support the 5by5 studio and network.
Our ideal candidate is outgoing, a self-starter, comfortable working with advertisers, at least a little bit geeky, and very familiar with podcasting.
The Associate Producer is responsible for supporting the entire production process, from generating ideas to managing audience response and interaction. Producers manage and work with hosts, guests, engineers, account managers, and advertisers. They are also responsible for scheduling, and managing the business and commercial aspects of our broadcasts.
Activities include keeping shows on schedule, planning shows, lining up and confirming guests, working with the marketing department to carry out promotions, directing shows, screening calls/messages during call-in shows, staying abreast of current events, diplomatically working as a go-between for on-air talent and management, and managing day-to-day network activity.
A bachelor's degree in a communications related area is ideal, and sales support experience is a plus. Experience with project management, customer relations, production, and support is required.
Additional activities include:
Generating and researching ideas for shows
Developing content, writing material for scripts, bulletins and links
Sourcing potential contributors and interviewees
Selecting music appropriate to the programs, the audience, and 5by5
Producing pre-production briefings for presenters, reporters, technical staff and other contributors
Managing the logistics of getting people, resources and equipment together to the right place at the right time
Editing, interviewing, and reporting duties
Project management
Blog, newsletter, and social network support
General audience communication, correspondence, and feedback
