YMCA of Sudbury is a dynamic charity dedicated to strengthening the foundations of communities by offering opportunities for personal growth, community involvement and leadership. We have been offering programs and services to the Greater Sudbury community since 1936! Today, we employ more than 70 full-time professionals and up to 250 part-time and seasonal staff. YMCA of Sudbury offers programs and services in five areas: Child Care, Camping Services, Health and Fitness, Employment Services and Newcomer Services.

We are currently looking for a John Island Camp Director to join our team of committed professionals. This is a full-time position within the Association which is housed at the YMCA of Sudbury. There is also the flexibility to work remotely in regards to location during the off season. Under the leadership of the Senior Manager of Camping Services, the John Island Camp Director manages the key aspects of YMCA John Island Camp. This includes facility maintenance, seasonal human resources, new program design, financial management, and program delivery throughout the various seasons.

Summary of Qualifications:

College diploma or University degree in Outdoor Recreation, Business or related field;

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a senior camp staff position;

Current Standard First Aid and CPR C;

National Lifeguard Certification (NLS) in good standing;

Valid G class driver’s license;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Strong computer skills; and

Crisis management and excellent interpersonal skills.

Major Responsibilities:

Onsite supervision of program and services delivery;

Monitor expenditures and create monthly and annual budgets;

Provide Fall program support at YMCA Camp Falcona;

Implement new program ideas and upgrade existing areas;

Develop risk management and safety systems for programs;

Develop and plan School/Camper promotional events; and

Coordinate seasonal staff recruitment and selection.
