College Football: Week 7 NIU vs MIAMI

Northern Illinois Huskies (3-3, 1-1 conf.) at Miami (OH) Redhawks (1-5, 0-2 conf.)

October 17, 2015- 2:30 PM ET (ESPN 3) Yager Stadium, Oxford, OH

Losers of five straight and in the midst of a disastrous season, the Miami (OH) Redhawks will welcome in the Northern Illinois Redhawks into Yager Stadium for a Saturday afternoon Mid-American Conference showdown, 5Dimes is favoring NIU (-15.5) total game points over Miami (OH).

Coming off a big 59-41 win over divisional rival Ball State last week, the Huskies (3-3, 1-1 MAC) will be in search of two straight wins while climbing above the .500 mark. NIU is in the second-spot in the MAC West behind the undefeated Toledo Rockets.

Last week contests with the Cardinals was a slugfest as both teams opened up to sandlot ball with NIU out-gaining Ball State 636-503 pounding out 273 yards on the ground. Northern Illinois went for 6 touchdowns on the ground led by Joel Bouagnon, who gained 149 yards on 31 carries with 2 touchdowns.

NIU is scoring 33.3 points with 413.8 yards a game while allowing 27.2 and 376.3 per contest. Bouagnon is the rushing leader with 591 yards with 10 touchdowns on 31 carries.

Quarterback Drew Hare is the field general for the Huskies where he has completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 1,347 yards for eight touchdowns and three picks.

For Miami of Ohio, much of their problems can be contributed to one problem… no offense! The Redhawks are scoring just 15.0 points per game to 35.3 allowed.

The end result for their porous numbers are five straight defeats, including a 34-3 beatdown by the Ohio Bobcats; a game in which they were outscored 428 to 253 yards. Miami (OH) had four interceptions in the game by quarterback Billy Bahl.

Prediction/Pick

The NIU Huskies will look to put it all together taking advantage of the dismal RedHawks on both sides of the ball as 5dimes is favoring NIU (-15.5) points over Miami (OH) on the road with an over/under of 54.0 total game points scored. Don’t see much of a threat from the Redhawks in this one; favor and pick for Northern Illinois MINUS the points (-15.5) over the Redhawks for the win.
