Beyond all those amazing elements, Alex and Alonso’s real wedding is also filled with the sweetest details (that bell idea is amazing!). Bride Alex shares her favorite memories, below.

“Growing up in Utah, I frequented [our wedding venue] La Caille with my family and always dreamed about getting married there.The venue is just breathtaking with the beautiful flowers and mountains as a backdrop.”
“My husband always wanted to do a ‘first look’ [before the ceremony] so that we could enjoy more time at the party, but I was unsure. However, during our initial meeting with our photographer, Pepper, she really influenced my decision and I couldn’t be happier. It was so special to have that intimate moment together before I walked down the aisle in front of all of our guests. The ‘first look’ was one of my favorite parts of the day. It got a lot of the nerves out of the way, and we were able to participate in the fun celebration after!”
“I really was hands-on in the wedding planning process. Some of my favorite memories were in the weeks leading up to the wedding when I stayed up late with my mom and sisters making the wedding programs, tying ribbons on bells [that were tied to the back of the ceremony chairs], and stuffing the hotel bags. I really liked the wedding bells that we incorporated. There was a sign attached to them that said ‘Ring this wedding bell loud when the bride and groom first kiss, and share their joyful wedding bliss!’ It was a very special moment to hear all of our wonderful friends and family ring the bells when we shared our first kiss. ”
“Although it is customary for the father of the bride to walk down the aisle, I really wanted both of my parents to share that special moment with me. They have both been such an important part of my life and have influenced who I am today, so I wanted to walk down with both of them.”
“It is honestly so hard to pick my favorite moment, but I think that my three favorite were: 1. When my husband and I read our own personal statements to one another before our traditional vows. 2. Our first dance. 3. Having a close friend officiate the wedding. I have known Rev. Tom Goldsmith since I was in Kindergarten, as I grew up with his son. He did such a wonderful job with the ceremony and added a lot of personal touches that people are still talking about. Since he has known me since I was a little girl he really had some touching personal remarks to make the ceremony more special than I could have ever imagined.”
“Our wedding cake was a very simple three tiered almond cake with buttercream frosting…We also had a fun groom’s cake which was a University of Southern California football helmet, where [Alonso] went to school.”
“We definitely tried to incorporate some Mexican flare into the wedding as my husband’s father is from Mexico. We threw a Mexican themed rehearsal dinner “Fiesta” in which we decorated the restaurant with pictures of us growing up, pinatas and other Mexican flare. We continued [the theme] at the wedding with the Mariachi Band, Mexican Cokes, and Mexican cookies.”
My advice to brides? “Enjoy the planning process and encourage [your] groom to be involved in the planning process. I was very fortunate that my husband was very into the planning process and helped me out a lot. …Have fun with the planning process! Although it is stressful at points, it’s important to appreciate planning the happiest day of your life!”
