Tuesday Fronts move slowly north-east across the country. Very murky for much of England & Wales, with widespread low cloud resulting in hill fog. Outbreaks of light rain or drizzle for many, but total amounts small. Gradually, patchy rain spreads to north-east England & southern Scotland, whilst northern Scotland stays dry much of the day. Brisk south-westerly winds near the south coast, south-easterlies in northern areas. Highs 17 to 22C.

Tuesday night Fronts trailing across southern Britain produces a risk of some heavy rain near the south coast in the early hours. Patchy rain in central areas should fade. Rain pushes north-east across Scotland, mostly moving away into the North Sea by dawn, but showers will follow from the west across Scotland & Ireland. Some cloud breaks for northern England and Wales. Blustery winds, strongest west & south. Generally mild, lowest temperatures 12 to 16C.

Wednesday Low pressure centred across the north-west produces strong south-westerly winds for most places, with the exception of northern Scotland nearest the centre of the low. Early rain in the south-east will clear, allowing bright and sunny spells to develop. Frequent showery rain in Northern Ireland & Scotland. Showery too in north-west England, but much of England & Wales escapes mainly dry with well scattered showers. Fresh at 17 to 21C.

Thursday Low pressure to the north-east of Britain brings an unsettled day. Areas of showery rain spreading from west to east, at times merging into more persistent falls in the west. Some locally heavy bursts advancing increasingly into central-eastern regions by afternoon. Mostly cloudy, occasional glimpses of sun, best in eastern early morning. Blustery south-westerly winds. Temperatures 18 to 22C, but cooler where rain lingers.
