Memorial Day Weekend is here and 9 On Your Side has you covered on what is happening this weekend. Below are all of the events taking place:

Beaufort County:  Aurora Fossil Festival, 8:00 a.m. Saturday – The Beaufort County Republican Party is very pleased to announce that Governor Pat McCrory will visit Beaufort County this Saturday. The Governor will start his day with a tour of the Aurora Fossil Museum, after which he will take part in the Aurora Fossil Festival Parade.

Bath Fest 2016, 10:00 a.m. Saturday – Celebrate the 300th anniversary of Port Bath on Saturday, May 28th in Bath, NC as Bath Fest and the First Port Celebration merge to create a slate of activities taking you from morning into the night.

Carteret County: Atlantic Beach Memorial Celebration, 9:00 p.m. on Saturday – The Town of Atlantic Beach is sponsoring the annual fireworks display on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 9PM along the boardwalk at the Circle beach access. Bring your chairs, but please no pets or glass containers.

Pitt County: Greenville Promoting Fishing, 6:00 a.m. on Monday – Memorial Day is a great day to have a picnic and spend the day at River Park North.  No park permit is required to go fishing on Memorial Day (State permit still required for anglers, 16 & up), so your family can take advantage of our FREE fishing pole loaner program and stocked ponds.  Public pedal boats will be offered from 10:00am – 11:00am, 12:00pm – 1:00pm, and 3:00pm – 4:00pm.

Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony, 10:58 a.m. on Monday – A Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony will be held Monday, May 30, at 10:58 AM at the DH Conley High School, 100 East First Street.

Lenoir County: Pepsi Splash Pad, 9:00 a.m. on Monday at Fairfield Park – As the dog days of summer approach, your little ones can have a “cool” day in the park splashing in Kinston’s latest water feature addition. Six exciting water sprays, dump buckets, and splashers will entertain and delight children 12 and under. A shade cover, lounge chairs and umbrellas will keep Mom or Dad “cool” while the little ones play. Parents will be happy to know that there is an attendant on duty. Onslow County: Memorial Day Ceremony, 11:00 a.m. on Monday – The Beirut Memorial Chapter 642 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will conduct the subject ceremony on Monday, 30 May 2016 for the 8th year. Last year approximately 500 people attended. Place: NC State Veterans Cemetery adjacent to the Beirut Memorial and entrance to Camp Johnson in Jacksonville. Guest Speaker: Mayor Sammy Phillips, Jacksonville Mayor. Ceremony will last approximately 45 minutes.

Pamlico County: Honor Guard’s Memorial Day Service, 10:00 a.m. on Monday – The Pamlico County Veterans Council and the Pamlico County Honor Guard’s Memorial Day Service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in front of the Pamlico County Courthouse in Bayboro, on N.C. 55. The guest speaker will be state Sen. Norman Sanderson, R-Pamlico.

Craven County: New Bern National Cemetery, 9:00 a.m. on Saturday – New Bern National Cemetery will be decorated Saturday morning with miniature American flags placed on each grave by members of the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of New Bern, Enchanting Waters Service Unit.

Colorfest in New Bern, 11:00 a.m. on Saturday –  A DJ will play the HOTTEST MUSIC  along with, a host of talented POETS, COMEDIANS, and a special raffle for a painting created LIVE during the event by our founder Derrick Bryant. TICKETS start at $20 and include admission and food.

Knights of Columbus, 9:00 a.m on Monday – on Monday in Havelock, the Knights of Columbus has its Memorial Day Ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m. at the memorial in front of the Havelock Tourist and Event Center, 201 Tourist Center Drive. The ceremony will feature a wreath-laying and guest speaker.

Memorial Day Ceremony, 11:00 a.m. on Monday – More than 500 people are expected to attend the 11 a.m. Memorial Day Ceremony at the New Bern National Cemetery, 1722 National Ave. The guest speaker will be retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Richard J. Casey. Marines from Cherry Point air station will provide the color guard as well as a bugler from the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band to play “Taps.”

The ceremonial firing details will be provided by Marine Corps League Cherry Point Detachment No. 1067. Patriotic music prior to the ceremony and briefly after will be provided by the Havelock Community Band. The ceremony will conclude at noon.

Transportation will be provided via a shuttle service from the Temple Baptist Church parking lot, 1500 Kingdom Way, New Bern, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The shuttle will drop passengers off at the main entrance of the National Cemetery, and will return to the church when the ceremony concludes.

The New Bern Chapter No. 40 of the Disabled American Veterans and Temple Baptist Church are providing the complimentary shuttle service.

Memorial service chairs will be provided for seating, but attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as well. Complimentary bottled water will be provided at the main gate as well as various points during the ceremony.

Durham, N.C.: Moral March for Health, 11:00 a.m. on Saturday – All friends of Health Care Justice are invited to celebrate Memorial Day by joining with the people in Belhaven and its surrounding counties to a Moral March for Health Care Justice on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. “Pungo Hospital must be saved; It is a matter of life and death for all people, especially the poor, the disabled, and our veterans.
