5am – A/B/C   Donald Trump Uses Death of Dwyane Wade’s Cousin to Illustrate His View. (NY Times) — Donald J. Trump took to Twitter on Saturday morning to comment on the news that a cousin of Dwyane Wade, the N.B.A. star, had been shot and killed in Chicago, linking the death to his effort to win support from African-American voters. “Dwayne Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago,” Mr. Trump wrote, misspelling Mr. Wade’s given name, which was later corrected. “Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!” Mr. Trump, who initially did not express sympathy for the family of the slain woman, Nykea Aldridge, later in the day posted a Twitter message offering his condolences.

Trump will directly address black voters, top aide says. Washington (CNN)Donald Trump’s campaign manager said Sunday he will soon be courting black voters more directly, scheduling events in front of predominantly African-American audiences. “Those events are actually being planned, and we’re very excited about them,” Kellyanne Conway told “Fox News Sunday,” acknowledging that Trump so far hasn’t yet held a rally in front of a largely black audience. Such a move could help blunt criticism from figures like the head of the Democratic National Committee, who blasted Trump on Sunday for failing to reach out directly to black voters.

5am – E         A new school year, and a 204th school, as enrollment surges in Maryland district. (Washington Post) — With the start of school in Montgomery County, many students will face opening-day jitters Monday as they meet new teachers and classmates. But in Clarksburg, Md., there’ll be a first day of a rarer sort: A brand-new middle school makes its debut. It has been more than a decade since the last one was built in the county. Hallie Wells Middle School comes as another sign of surging enrollment in a fast-growing suburban district that ranks as Maryland’s largest. Planners expect 159,000 students in all, with an uptick of more than 2,000 students for an eighth consecutive year.

6am – A/B/C 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Defends National Anthem Protest. San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Sunday defended his decision not to stand for the national anthem at a game two days earlier, saying he is standing up for people oppressed because of their race. “This country stands for freedom, liberty, justice for all — and it’s not happening for all right now,” Kaepernick said. Kaepernick did not stand as the national anthem played before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. The move sparked criticism, and some fans posted videos of themselves burning Kaepernick jerseys and other apparel.  Kaepernick’s protest comes amid increased scrutiny over police use of force against African-American men and other minorities.   Kaepernick said “police brutality” was one of the reasons he sat during the anthem. “This is because I’m seeing things happen to people that don’t have a voice, people that don’t have a platform to talk and have their voices heard and effect change,” the quarterback said. “So I’m in a position where I can do that, and I’m going to do that for people that can’t.”

6am – D         Anthony Weiner sexted busty brunette while his son was in bed with him. (NY Post) — This is baby-sitting — Anthony Weiner-style. While his wife, Huma Abedin, travels the country campaigning for Hillary Clinton, the disgraced ex-congressman has been sexting with a busty brunette out West — and even sent her a lurid crotch shot with his toddler son in the picture, The Post has learned. The stay-at-home cad shot the revealing photo while discussing massage parlors “near my old apartment” shortly after 3 a.m. on July 31, 2015, a screen shot of the exchange shows. Weiner was clearly aroused by his conversation with the 40-something divorcee when he abruptly changed the subject. “Someone just climbed into my bed,” Weiner wrote. “Really?” she responded. Weiner then hit “send” on the cringe-inducing image, which shows a bulge in his white, Jockey-brand boxer briefs and his son cuddled up to his left, wrapped in a light-green blanket. “You do realize you can see you[r] Weiner in that pic??” the woman wrote. Moments after forwarding the photo, Weiner freaked out over the possibility he had accidentally posted it publicly — just as he did during the infamous episode that forced him to resign from Congress in 2011.

6am – E         Entertainment News:

Stumping for Hillary Clinton in Cedar Rapids, Ashton Kutcher told Iowans: she’s one of us. “What I know about Iowans is I know that they’re common-sense people,” he said, “and I know they’re people that understand the power of bringing people together and the power of accepting people even though they’re not like us. “We all know Iowans are the first people to reach out a hand to someone that’s in need and not the people that kick people out when they’re in need. And I think that Hillary stands for all the things we stand for, too.” Kutcher told a crowd of about 80 supporters and volunteers that he was somewhat of a novice to political rallies. “I’m not really like a Democrat, Democrat. I’m not really like a super-liberal,” he said. “But I’m definitely not a Trumper.” If elected, Clinton’s administration will be guided by common sense, Kutcher said, and her government will be “data-driven.” The star said he has met both nominees. He  described the former first lady and secretary of state as an “extremely nice, caring, generous down-to-earth human being.”

Barbra Streisand says she will move to Australia if Donald Trump wins. (Daily Mail) — Barbra Streisand revealed during an Australian TV interview that she will move Down Under if Donald Trump is elected President of the United States in November. The 74-year-old actress, a lifelong Democrat who endorses Hilary Clinton in the US election, made the admission during an interview with 60 Minutes. Barbra told Sydney-based journalist Michael Usher on Sunday she would consider relocating to Australia or Canada in the event of a Trump presidency. Barbra claimed she was ‘astounded’ by Trump’s popularity and hopes his American supporters will ‘come back to sanity’. The Funny Girl star added: ‘He has no facts. I don’t know, I can’t believe it. I’m either coming to your country, if you’ll let me in, or Canada’. Michael responded jovially that Barbra would be ‘very welcome’ to live in Australia.

7am – B   TRUMP NEWS:

IMMIGRATION:

Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump 9h9 hours ago: I will be making a major speech on ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION on Wednesday in the GREAT State of Arizona. Big crowds, looking for a larger venue.

Donald Trump Says Immigration Speech Coming Wednesday in Arizona. (NEW YORK) — Donald Trump tweeted Sunday night that he will be making a speech on illegal immigration on Wednesday in Arizona. The announcement comes after a week in which his language has sometimes shifted on illegal immigration, leading members of Trump’s campaign to come out trying to explain his stand, and Trump himself blaming the media for suggesting he’s softening his hardline approach on the subject.

Trump pledges to ‘track’ all immigrants to prevent visa overstays. US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump promised to introduce a tracking system for all immigrants in order to make sure none overstay their visas. Anyone who breaks the rule could be deported immediately under his rule. “If we don’t enforce visa expiration dates, then we have an open border – it’s as simple as that,” Trump pledged on Saturday during a campaign speech in Des Moines, Iowa. Trump promised to introduce a monitoring system that would make it easy to remove illegal immigrants who overstay their visas.

DEBATE PREP: Donald Trump is reportedly holding debate preps – including a meeting Sunday – but has spurned a formal coach or traditional rehearsals ahead of the first debate Sept. 26. According to NBC News, the GOP nominee’s second session was set at his weekend home in New Jersey, and was to include former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, conservative radio host Laura Ingraham, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani and his eldest daughter, Ivanka, and her newspaper publisher husband Jared Kushner.

7am – C         Internal Power Failure Led to DC 911 Outage, Officials Say. (NBC Washington) – Washington, D.C., officials say they know what caused the city’s 911 system to fail late Saturday night, but they are still trying to find out why it happened.

Chris Geldart, director of the District of Columbia’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, said Sunday the system was down for about 90 minutes due to an equipment failure inside the system. “We know exactly what in the system failed,” Geldart said. “We want to know why it failed.” Power failed after 11 p.m., and was back in service by about 1 a.m., officials said, including Mayor Muriel Bowser, who tweeted updates during the outage. Geldart said power from Pepco flowed normally into the system and was not the source of the failure. Once the power came into the system, all the power boxes failed at the same time. Geldart said it was not a normal type of failure, but there was nothing nefarious about it, and there was no hacking into the system. He said his agency will conduct a review to find out what caused the failure.

49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Defends National Anthem Protest. San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Sunday defended his decision not to stand for the national anthem at a game two days earlier, saying he is standing up for people oppressed because of their race.

The Redskins’ preseason win over the Bills. The Washington Redskins received some more positive developments as they beat the Bills in preseason game No. 3 Friday night at FedEx Field. The starting offense produced 21 points, the starting defense provided some dominant flashes against the pass and the run, and some young players shined in their opportunities late in the game. The final preseason game will feature the backups and bubble players, so this is the last that we will see of many of the core players until the regular season opener.

To help create the recipes, LaBelle drew upon family recipes as well as her own experimentation in the kitchen. “I’ve been cooking for most of my life,” she tells PEOPLE. “As you’re standing in the kitchen and you think of certain ingredients, you just put them in — sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t.”
