(CHICAGO) Hundreds of dog statues will line the sidewalks of Chicago this summer.

It all started with the “Cows On Parade” and now this summer – statues of police K-9’s will adorn the sidewalks of Chicago. The new public arts campaign is called “K-9’s for Cops.” Officials with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation say the project builds on the “Horses of Hero’s” initiative.

The German Shepard statues will be individually designed and painted by artists working with sponsors. The 54 inch statues will then stand guard outside of the sponsors place of business or along the Mag Mile from July 23 through Labor Day.

Proceeds from the sponsorships and potential auction of some of the pieces will benefit both the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and Paws Chicago.
