LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Dozens of local women have donated their time this week to saw wood, hammer walls together and use team work to build a home for a family in need.

But it’s been a task that requires many of the women to step outside of their comfort zone.

6 News Alexandra Ilitch spent a couple of hours with the president and CEO of an advertising and public relations firm right here in Lansing and shares her story.

Tiffany Dowling is president and CEO of a PR and advertising firm called M3 Group, stationed right here in mid-Michigan

She has led a team of 20 some people for about 13 years

“I am always on the go, always working with my team, creative people and then of course sales team in order to make sure we are fulfilling our obligations to our clients,” said Tiffany Dowling, president and CEO, M3 Group.

On top of that Tiffany and her team publish three magazines, Capital Area Women’s Lifestyle, Greater Lansing Business Monthly and ing magazine

“So I do a lot of editing, we schedule interviews.”

While creativity, writing, branding and strategizing is her area of expertise, Tiffany is trading in her heels for a hard hat and stepping outside of her comfort zone to build a home for a family in need.

“However I am probably not that good with the hammer, but I’m always willing to try and I do love to work on those types of projects I just wouldn’t say that I could be left with my own devices thank goodness there’s going to be a great team there to help me out.”

Something Tiffany says she’s using as an opportunity to give back to a community she’s been a part of for many years.

“It’s really the active piece of it. I can donate time or I can be on boards and I do those things, but ya know, this is really getting maybe even a little dirty which is not usual for me.”

A new and empowering experience for not only her, but for many powerful women who are dedicating time to give one family a chance to live “the American dream.”

“Looking at the ways these women are coming together and using their power in this community for such a wonderful cause is a great way to show how creative the organization is.”

6 News Friends For Life series and Habitat for Humanity Women Build coverage continues throughout the rest of this week.
