PC Notes:

Women: PC 50 – Charleston Southern 48… The Presbyterian College women’s basketball team converted 9-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to help overcome an eight point Charleston Southern lead, earning a 50-48 comeback win last Tuesday night at the Templeton Center… Three of the lady Blue Hose scored 10 points each and if you want to find out who they were and other details on the game, click here…. The team will travel to Rock Hill tomorrow for a 1 pm contest with the lady eagles of Winthrop.

Men: Charleston Southern 73 – PC 52… The men’s team was in action last night as they hosted Charleston southern… The news is not good here for PC fans as the Bucs led wire-to-wire and took a 73-52 win over the Blue Hose…. Ed Drew led PC with 13 points and 7 rebounds… To see more details on the game, click here… The team will also be in action tomorrow as the also will be on the road taking on the Running Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb in a 3 pm contest.

Local Notes:

CHS: The Red Devil JV teams traveled to Woodruff last night to take on the Wolverines…

Girls: Woodruff 32 – Clinton 31… Sorry but I don’t have any other details except to say Coach Glenn said it was a nail bitter.

Boys: Clinton 47 – Woodruff 34… Now it is better news fir Red Devil fans in the boys’ game as the Red Devils took a 47-34 win… Coach Glenn said his team played better eliminating previous mistake and creating turnovers on defense to take a great team win… Konnor Richardson had 12 points to lead the team while JD Payne had 11 points and Titus Hood 10.

LDHS… The Laurens Raider JV and 9th grade boys’ team hosted the Greenwood Eagles last night in the main gym at LDHS.

JV Girls: Greenwood 35 – Laurens 22… In JV girls’ action, the two teams played almost even in the first half as greenwood led 18-15 going into the locker room at its end… However the Lady Raiders came out cold in the third quarter scoring only 1 point while the eagles scored 10 and that wound up costing them as Greenwood took a 35-22 win… Aija Davis as the leading scorer for the Raiders with 8 points… Jadaija Pinson and Monay Conway had 6 points each for the team to round out the top 3 scorers… The team is now 3-6 on the season but 2-1 region play.

9th Grade Boys: Laurens 42 – Greenwood 34… The news was better where the 9th grade boys are concerned as the Raiders took a 42-34 win… They trailed by 1 point (10-9) at the end of the first quarter but then outscored the eagles the rest of the way to take the win…. Amiga Hill led all scorers with 16 points and Nigel Owens was also in double-digits with 10.

JV Boys: Greenwood 44 – Laurens 39… Jamir Booker led the Raiders with 9 points and close behind was Jeremiah Jenkins with 6.

Laurens Academy: The Laurens Academy Crusader varsity basketball teams hosted the Whitmire Wolverines last night…

Girls: LA 49- Whitmire 6…. The Lady Crusaders held the lady Wolverines scoreless in the first quarter and cruised to a 49-6 win… Taylor Campbell had a game-high 20 points while Ruthie Moore was also in double-digits with 15 points… Reagan Williamson chipped in 8, Morgan Marlett 4 and Blair Quarles 2…

Boys: LA 55 – Whitmire 37… In the final game of the evening the Crusaders completed the sweep of the Wolverines as the boys took a 55-37 win… The big quarter for the Crusaders was the third where they outscored the Wolverines 18-6 in route to the win… Joshua Moore and Noah Moore each had 18 points to lead all scorers… Jonathan Burns was also in double-digits with 13 points… The remaining 6 points were scored by Will Price.

Middle School Basketball:

Hickory Tavern Panthers hosted the Mid-Carolina MS Rebels.

Girls: HT 37 – MC 20… The Lady Panthers of Hickory Tavern defeated Mid-Carolina Middle 37 to 20 thus securing the #1 seed in the upcoming Little River Tournament… This was the Lady Panthers 22nd consecutive victory in the Little River Conference…  The Lady Panthers were led in scoring by Ranyia Jackson with 23 points, Sandajah Vance 9 points and 7 assist while Hanna Wiles 6 points and 10 rebounds.

Boys: MC 38 – HT 26… The news is not as good where the boys are concerned as the rebels took a 38-26 win over the Panthers… The leading scorers for the Panthers were Thomas Willis and Josh Curenton who had 5 points each.

Sanders Yellow Jackets hosted the Westview Titans

Girls: Westview 24 – Sanders 8… Sorry no other details.

Boys: Westview 49 – Sanders 32… Sorry no other details

Clinton MS White teams at Southside Christian… Sorry all I have is the scores

Girls: SSC 32 – CMS-W 17

Boys: SSC 40 – CMS-W 32… Was reported CMS lost and this is what the coach said they though score was.

City of Laurens Parks and Recreation and Laurens Family YMCA Announce Softball and baseball Registration… 2017 Youth Baseball and Softball Registrations are now open at the City of Laurens parks and recreation Department and the Laurens Family YMCA… The cost is $60 and depending on your age you will register at the following locations: Ages 3-4 Wee Ball and ages 5-6 Teeball will register at the Laurens YMCA… Ages 7-8 Coaches Pitch, ages 9-10 Minors, and ages 11-12 Majors will register at The Ridge with the City of Laurens Parks & Recreation Department… All ages for the Middle School Program will register at the Laurens family YMCA… The deadline is Friday, February 10 with Skills Evaluations being held on February 11th.
