Laurens Academy: The boys’ basketball team was down in Sumter @ Wilson Hall taking on St. John’s in semi-final action of the SCISA State Basketball Tournament

LA 57 – St. John’s 55… The Crusaders trailed in this game by as much as 17 in the first half and were still down 9 with about 3.5 minutes to play in the game but they managed to come back and take a 57-55 win on a buzzer beating 40 ft. 3-point shot by Matthew Urwick….The Crusaders comeback in the second half was sparked by Chase Brewington who had 28 of his 38 points on the night in the second half… He tied the game 54-54 on a pair of free throws with about 15 seconds left in the game… moments later he was called for his 5th foul and St. Johns made 1 of 2 free throws to go up by 1 with 5 seconds left… After the inbound, Matthew Urwick found himself with the ball 40 feet or so from the basket and put up a shot that went through the net as time expired to give the Crusaders the 57-55 win… They will now play Myrtle Beach Christian at 12:30 tomorrow for the SCISA Class A Championship at the Sumter Civic Center…. Good Luck to the Crusaders!!!
