News 2, WKRN-TV in Nashville announced today that after 25 years of service and an exemplary career, veteran award-winning News 2 Weathercaster Lisa Patton will retire in July.

“Lisa has been an invaluable member of the News 2 team, so it’s hard to imagine our newscasts without her.  We are grateful to her for her years of service to the community and wish her all the best in her retirement,” said Steve Watt, General Manager of WKRN.

In her career at News 2, Lisa earned the trust and confidence of Middle Tennessee viewers time and time again. She pledged to keep the people of Middle Tennessee informed and safe when severe weather was bearing down on our communities.

Her dedication is unsurpassed, as Lisa never hesitated to come in after hours, on days off, or even cutting short vacation time to lead the News 2 Weather Team during severe weather events.

Her efforts over the years have not only been appreciated by Middle Tennessee viewers, but lauded by her peers as she was recognized with numerous awards including:

Emmy for Daytime Newscast, News 2 at 4 on April 7, 2006 for the storm tracking of an F-3 tornado that ripped through Gallatin killing seven people and leaving more than 700 businesses damaged or destroyed

Emmy for Continuing Weather Coverage of the Super Tuesday Tornadoes on February 5, 2008 when 22 people died as an EF-3 tornado cut a 50 mile path through Sumner, Trousdale, and Macon counties.

Tennessee Associated Press 2013 Best TV Weather Anchor

Most importantly, Lisa says she has cherished every opportunity to give back to the generous communities of Middle Tennessee and South Central Kentucky.

Lisa has encouraged school children to learn more about science and weather, helped neighbors recover after a horrible flood, and spent more than two dozen years asking for viewer support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville.

Lisa Patton shared, “The people of Middle Tennessee and South Central Kentucky have welcomed me into their homes for many years…some consider us family. I am humbled by their trust and loyalty. I’m a ‘doer’ so I will miss putting the weather puzzle together each day, but I do look forward to spending a snow day in my pj’s!”

Lisa is also grateful to have been a part of the News 2 team for so many years, and the support she’s received from her colleagues, especially her friend and mentor, Meteorologist, Davis Nolan.
