BALTIMORE (AP) — The company that publishes The Baltimore Sun says it has purchased two other Maryland newspapers, The Capital in Annapolis and the Carroll County Times, as well as their associated publications and websites.
The Baltimore Sun Media Group, which is owned by Tribune Co., announced the purchases Thursday from Virginia-based Landmark Media Enterprises LLC. The deal’s financial terms were not disclosed. The Capitol has a daily circulation of about 33,000 while the Carroll County Times has a daily circulation of approximately 24,000.
In addition to The Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore Sun Media Group publishes b, a free weekly, and several community newspapers in the region.
In February, the group announced it had purchased the City Paper, a free alternative weekly with circulation of about 50,000 in the Baltimore area.
