BLOOMINGTON – The first month of United Way of McLean County’s 2016 campaign is considered a success.

President and CEO David Taylor tells WJBC News they have raised nearly $213,000 in the first month of the campaign.

Taylor says they will not be setting a goal for this campaign.

“We wanted to kind of move away from the numbers and focus in on the impact of the people involved that really are benefiting from what all of those donations add up to,” said Taylor.

Bridgestone Over the Road is the pacesetter with a $40,000 donation from employees.

Donations to United Way help fund 64 programs managed by 30 local nonprofit organizations. The campaign raised about $3.5 million last year.

The campaign is scheduled to continue through the end of the year.
