This is a work in progress. It is very unfinished, but i wanted to post what i have thus far. The occult associations are largely my own, through practice, advise from the spirit, folklore, and in depth research of tradition. I must acknowedge Mama Starr, because reading "working the root" was a huge validation that yes, other people in english do work like I do, and while we differ on some things, I think that book is the epitome of 'quimbois' style/curanderismo conjure in english. I must thank CalvinMQ and Euoi for many hours of discussion and helping me articulate this post. the other associations are only meant as SUGGESTIONS, but they also are another way to understand the power of that particular saint. No one works in exactly the same way, and I don't expect anyone else to follow this as a manual. If you want to copy this to elsewhere that's cool, but please credit me. A lot of this represents original research in english. IF something is FOLKLORIC i will represent it with a *. There will be a short guide to working with saints preceding this. When working with saints, it is very preferable to work with 1-7 closely and others as needed, and you can also pair saints together (which is an art in and of itself)- but you need to know who they can be paired with and why. To find out which saints will be closest to you there are generally three criteria 1) baptismal name (christian name) 2) birth date 3)likeness to the saint. But largely there are divination methods used to infer which saints comprise your spiritual court. When this is discovered, those saints are considered your personal go to spirits for all conditions, even if outside their office. There are also 'conditional' saints, who you work with because we need their power- these are saints whose relationship with us improves over time, through veneration. Remember we don't worship saints, we can love them and venerate them, but we worship god first and foremost, arguably mary as a part of the holy spirit-aeon of wisdom, and co-redemptrix, mediatrix of heaven and earth, and christ the magus.

If in doubt on how to work with a saint, begin a nine day novena on a sunday (every saint can be worked on a sunday)! and see if they respond. If a saint is not mentioned here 1) i may be in the process of writing their correspondences or 2) they are very well-known and a lot of material is out there for you to work with 3) let me know and i will add them if i feel they would fit in the theme of sorcerous saints.

they are a few thousand saints, only about 150 can be worked in a sorcerous paradigm. hopefully this can open more of them to wider occult fame.

Just a note: "Symbols" are what characterises the saint in art, "tools" are what we give saints to work)

St. Margaret of Antioch / St Marina the Virgin-Martyr

"She who tames the Devil"

Her names means 'ocean' and she is strongly associated with tempests, sailors, and leviathans. She is the patron of child-birth (and when we reflect on this for occult associations we can see in this the ability to bear heavy burdens and conquer seemingly impossible obstacles- and produce something miraculous). Her hagiography states that she wielded a holy hammer of god, in one version she tames the devil (or a demon), and is often pictured holding a pet demon on a leash or by its horns. she was the most popular saint of the middle ages, because on her death she promised miraculous and powerful boons on her devotees. amongst these boons, were great power over enemies and adversities. In another version of her hagiography, she is swallowed by a great leviathan, and her holy cross irritated the lining of the stomach of the beast, and thus she was expelled. Another version states she wielded her hammer against the organs of the dragon, and caused it to explode, raining gold and silver upon the city of antioch.
