Ashland, WI — After a busy and historic 50th Anniversary season last summer, the ABC Raceway has another ambitious schedule planned for 2015.

The 15-event program will include traditional favorites as well as a handful of new events that will help spice up an already exciting schedule. Returning to compete on the venerable northern Wisconsin three-eighths-mile red-clay oval will be Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds as part of the WISSOTA Promoters’ Association’s Polydome Dirt Track Series, as well as the Raceway’s own Six-Cylinder and Pure Stock divisions.

The season will kick off in traditional manner on Saturday, May 9, with a car show and swap meet at FastLane Motorsports Custom Powdercoating from 10 am-2 pm. The public is welcome to attend as area racers will bring their cars to display at the shop on Highway 2 on the east edge of Ashland, WBSZ-FM’s “Race Night” crew will be broadcasting live during the morning portion of the event, and local car buffs can certainly participate by showing off their prized vehicles alongside the racing hardware.

The on-track action begins on May 23 with the first of 14 regular-season race programs that will take place every Saturday night through Championship Saturday Night on August 29, with the exception of July 4.

Popular events that have anchored the schedule for many years include the Kids’ Meet the Drivers Night on June 6, the “Cure for Cancer” fundraiser night on June 27, the “Jam the Stands” Night on July 25, and the kids’ bike races on August 1. Meanwhile, one special new event has been added to ABC’s docket for 2015, as a salute to those who have served and are currently serving our country will be held during Armed Services Night on May 30.

The Raceway will induct its second class into its Hall of Fame during a special ceremony as part of its July 18 race program, and the features held that night for the WISSOTA-sanctioned divisions will serve as the track’s qualifiers for the prestigious Afco Shocks Race of Champions as part of the WISSOTA 100 in mid-September.

The Interstate Racing Association’s high-powered winged 410 sprints will venture north for the fifth straight year on June 20 to post triple-digit speeds on the red-clay race surface. That night’s show will also mark the middle event of the new three-night, three-track FastLane Motorsports Super Stock Challenge, which will begin in Superior on the Friday night before and conclude on the following Sunday evening in Proctor, MN.

A second local series, the Mid-Mod Summer Nationals during the weekend of August 14-16, will consist of events at Superior on that Friday, Ashland and Hibbing, MN, on that Saturday, and a big-money show in Proctor on Sunday.

“Each series will offer generous points funds for the drivers,” explained ABC Raceway president Eric Erickson recently. “Also, both series are special in that they show how the tracks in our region are cooperating, especially for the Midwest Mod series. The joint effort between the two participating Saturday night tracks – Hibbing and Ashland – makes for a unique partnership.”

Each of the ABC Raceway’s five regular divisions will be featured in special enhanced-purse nights during the summer. The “Midwest Modified Madness” program is set for June 13, followed by the Super Stocks’ series stop on the 20th. On July 11 “Modified Mayhem” puts the spotlight on the track’s premier division, and the “Pure Excitement 25″ gives fans the chance to help build the purse for the track’s entry-level class on August 8. The “Six-Cylinder Summer Sizzler” will be held as part of the Raceway’s Fan Appreciation night on August 22.

After a month off to prepare, the ABC Raceway will hold its 40th annual Red Clay Classic on Friday and Saturday, October 2-3. The crown jewel of Upper Midwestern stock car racing invitationals will include upwards of 200 Mid-Mods, Supers, Mods and WISSOTA Late Models battling for their share of a purse in excess of $80,000.

The Raceway welcomes the Stagecoach Bar Grill of historic downtown Ashland as a new member of the long list of season-long sponsors that will support the track during the 2015 season. Other sponsors include AllPro Auto Parts; the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce; the Ashland-Bayfield County Sportsman’s Club; the Bad River Lodge, Casino Convention Center; Chicago Iron Supply; FastLane Motorsports Custom Powdercoating; Heartland Communications, WBSZ-FM and WJJH-FM; Lake Shore Cafe Catering; Little Caesar’s Pizza; NAPA Auto Parts of Ashland Washburn; Northern Clearing Inc; Northern State Bank; Northern Wisconsin Fence; Northstar Beverage of Hurley and Pepsi; Outlaw Graphics; the Safari Bar; Tim’s Automotive Machine of Bloomer; and WIMI-FM.
