Reva Institute of Technology and Management (RITM) is a private technical co- educational engineering college in Bangalore; Karnataka.The REVA ITM is built on a campus of about 35 acres and is a technical education centre. No other colleges like Shrivenkatshwara college of engineering , KNS IT,M.S engineering college and Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology e.t.c. have such a vast campus which is flattered over this much area. Revaitm was established in 2004 in Rukminiknowledge Park by Rukmini educational charitable trust. Revaitm from the very first year gained popularity as it is maintained by Divyasree construction and its director as Shri P.Syamaraju and its principal as Dr.N.Ranapratapreddy who is a doctorate and a former lecturer at Nit, Suratkal. REVA ITM has become a heart throb of students in the recent past. No other college in Bangalore has shown so much progress in the recent past. As we have seen that in 2009 Revaitm acquired all its comedk seats which are acquired by only good colleges of Bangalore.Knowledge is the main consideration in the college as its motto itself says “knowledge is power”.
LOCATION and CONNECTIVITY:Right from the location to academics and co-curricular activities Revaitm has raised its flag. The location of Revaitm is enormously great located just 10 km from the international airport of Bangalore. While other colleges like SVCE,NMIT,SVIT and Brindavan College etc. are too far from the connectivity to the nearest airport, railway station and other facilities like hospital, malls,clubs and restaurant. Hospitals like Columbia Asia, Baptist hospital and Om Shakti nursing home is there. Clubs like Country club is there. Malls like Esteem mall is there and restaurant like Potenza tandoori and café like Potenza café and Kanti sweets is there. Yelahanka railway station is also 8 km from my college. Connective roads are also very good. Visiting and tourist places like Nandi hills and Haaka hills are also located nearby.so there is no discomfort of facilities nearby the college. Compared to another colleges which lacks in one or two good facilities and recreation mode nearby theirlocation.
INFRASTRUCTURE: Revaitm from the very starting is known for her infrastructure, being maintained by Divyasree construction it is one of the most beautiful campus in whole Bangalore. Only one or two colleges in Bangalore can give competition to Revaitm in its Infrastructure. It have lush green campus containing one canteen ,an atm, a bank, a refreshment centre, a fully fledged parking slot a main block , mechanical block, P.G block, science block, administration block, faculty quarter, a guest house, a principal quarter , two girls hostel , four boys hostel, a N.R.I hostel(under construction) separate mess for north Indian and south Indian student , a nursing home, a gym, a salon ,a cafeteria, TFC, milk parlour, a very big cricket ground, a volleyball ground and a basketball court. I do not think that any other college in Bangalore have such a facilities inside theircampus. All colleges like SVCE, RVCE, GAT, NMIT etc will have some of these facilities and that too outside their campus but Ritm have all its facilities inside in a single campus making it a one good family. All the facilities available inside the campus ensure students indulging in other outside activities which are very common in Bangalore. Recently a main gate is constructed which cost estimation is around 1 crore rupees. A security office is situated just near the main gate to check the visitors regularly. An atm is situated just a footstep from main gate so that it can be avail by both students and outsiders. The Karnataka bank pvt.ltd.is situated at the outburst of the main gate. An electricity room is situated above the bank to ensure regular power supply in the campus.Canteen contains all type and variety of food ranging from dosa, idli to meals and fried rice. Canteen is always kept very clean and cosy. No other canteen in colleges like NMIT, SVCE, KNSIT, GAT, PESIT etc, has so many variety of food and kept clean and cosy. A refreshment centre is just beneath canteen having kept all type of packed items from chocolates to chips and juice centre. A stall of panipuri and fried items like samosa and fast foods is available on the stall. Two parking slot is there which can adjust around 500 bikes and 100 cars and 20 busses. A multifloor parking slot is yet proposed at the existing parking slot to adjust more vehicles which will be constructed in a year. A cricket ground which is also a venue for KSCA at which regularly many matches at state level is played.A international school match had also been played at this ground. An English school team had played over this venue. Very less college ground is taken on lease by KSCA.
MAIN BLOCK: Main block is situated just right of the main gate.it have four floors and a basement. Chemistry lab, Physics lab, workshop lab, many computers lab, many seminar halls, a auditorium, many staff rooms and many classrooms. All the seminar halls and auditorium ad some classes are digitalised. All the class rooms are fully airy. A closed amphitheatre is there inside the main block. All the departments in the main block have their own library. All the labs are equipped by their own Wi-Fi connection for the students and the staff. Mechanical block have civil and mechanical department in it. It’s a newly constructed building having all the modern technology in it. No other colleges in Bangalore like SVCE, NMIT, and RVCE etc have such modern technology as it is in the study blocks of Revaitm.
ADMIN BLOCK: Admin block is fully equipped with facilities for students and feasibility for students. Other colleges may not have a full fledged administration block. The college fees is also very less than many good colleges in Bangalore like RVCE,PESIT,DSCE,DSATE,Acharya institute of technology etc. P.g blocks have only been assigned to the post graduation students comprising of department like Mba, m.sc, m.tech etc, In the college campus there is a guest room which many other colleges don’t have in therecolleges.
PRINCIPAL QUARTER and GUEST ROOM: Principal is given special quarter inside the campus only to reside with his family so that he can keep eyes on the activity of the students inside the campus. Other colleges like SVCE, RNSIT, GAT etc, don’t give so much space and liberty to the principal.
HOSTEL: Girls and boys hostel are fully equipped with all the modern facilities and amenities. All the rooms in the girls and boys hostel are a three bedded rooms.Cold water and hot water running 24 hrs.a day. All the beds are very comfortable and cushioned with mattresses. Other colleges like SaIT, RVCE, GAT, NMIT etc don’t provide so much cushioned mattress and wooden beds. In Revaitm we have separate mess facilities for north and south Indian students. Not even a single college in a city have such the separation of food facility for the different taste of students. Food quality is also so much good than almost all the colleges in the city. They provide all the veg and non-veg items available in the market. They provide with daily milk, tea and coffee. Revaitm cooks and helpers are too much better than any other college in the city. The NRI hostel is there which have all A.C room in it. They have their own food facilities. Other college like RVCE, DSCE, and PESITetc have NRI hostel outside their campus but Revaitm has its NRI hostel in their campus only. Girls hostel is there taking all the security norms as returning of girls around 8 pm is mandatory. Hostel warden is also a woman. There is a medical practitioner residing in the campus, available all 24 hours a day for the students and the staff. Hostel facilities have other department which takes care of all the pin problems of the student. Cafeteria in the hostel gives a pleasant environment inside the hostel. No outsiders are allowed in the hostel.Security camera and smart card detector is installed in both girls and boys hostel. Xerox shop with all the daily need of the student is available in the hostel and open till late in the night.
FACULTIES: There are more than 5000 student in the campus and more than 400 teaching staff in the campus. There are more than 200 non-teaching staffs in the college. No other colleges in the city have so much enormously huge number of staffs and student. The student to teacher ratio in the college is also good having a teacher over 15 students approximately. There are many courses running in the college under Visveswarya technological University, with b.e, M.Tech, m.c.a and Mba the main concern. In master of computer application (m.c.a) having an intake of 120 students is one of its kind and large in number. Around 80% of the eligible candidates in m.c.a are placed in big companies such as t.c.s , amazon, n.t.t data , capgemini and others. M.c.a department is filled with doctorates and P.G lecturers and professors.M.b.a department is also affiliated to V.T.U and its strength is also 120 students. Masters of business administration also keen on good education facilities and an industry based approach. The students are made ready to cope with the regular new technologies coming in the market. They are building up so that they can make their own spot and propaganda of their own .
PG DEPARTMENT: The Mba department is also having a good placement as of 70% in a good industry as none of the college in the city fails to give such a high percentage of placement for Mba. always on a high mode this department have all the classroom digitalised and have their own placement department. Many sub division in the department such as finance, marketing is there. The another course is M.Tech which have 10 departments which is quite high than other colleges in the city. The department namely which are M.Tech in vlsi and embedded system which have 36 intakes ,M.Tech in digital communication and networking having 24 intakes, M.Tech in signal processing having 24 intakes, M.Tech in vlsi design and embedded system (part time, vtuextn. centre) having an intake of 18 students, M.Tech in computer science and engineering with an intake of 36 students, M.Tech in computer network engineering with an intake of 36 students ,M .tech in computer network engineering (part time vtuextn. centre) having an intake of 18 students, M.Tech in power electronics with an intake of 36 students , M.Tech in transportation engineering with an intake of18 students and M.Tech in structural engineering with also an intake of 18 students. Hence, Reva had been a hub for the students pursuing their higher studies in the city in the recent past. All the faculties of these post graduation departments have almost doctorates lecturers and professors. Education quality in these post graduation departments is very good compared to all other colleges in the city.
UG DEPARTMENT: The other course in the college is bachelor of engineering (b.e) . B.E have 6 departments namely electronics and communication (e.c.e), electrical and electronics (e.e.e) , civil engineering, mechanical engineering , computer science and engineering (c.s.e), information science and engineering (i.s.e).E.c.e departments have 180 intakes and 60 from diploma intake .In e.c.e department head of the department is Dr. K.S Gurumurthy , a doctorate and having more than 35 years of teaching experience. E.c.e department have one of the best ,experienced faculty member in the city. Students are given with equipped labs and practice session and seminars.Students are given more emphasis on practicals than theory . 95% of placement is reported in the current year with most of the students having 2 or more jobs offer in there hand. This type of placement record is quiet often in this department in the recent past. Even the college principal Dr.S.S.Manvi is from this department only. This department owns a yearly fest known as FORCE.Computer science and engineering is other department which is very good in academics and always have university toppers from this department. Dr.Rohini Deshpande is the head of the department. Always emphasice on new technology and achievements in the co- curricular activities are this department usp .This department students always have put Reva on high grounds in many activities. This department fest is known as CREST. Information science and engineering comes hand to hand with the c.s.e department. Dr. R. C. Biradar is the head of the department. He always keeps keen eyes on the students and encourages them to do better jobs. His department is evolved with many clubs at Reva. This department have its own fest known as ARISE.Electrical and electronics branch is also growing year by year. Dr.SudhakarRao is its head of the department. This department has its own fest known as ELITE .many of the students from this department is involved in IEEE page. Students had given many paper , seminar and projects in many national and international fests and conferences . EEE department students are the largest community in any department in INDIA involved in IEEE chapter. Civil department is yet another eminent department in the college. Dr.Ramalinga Reddy is the head of the department .Their involvement in practical knowledge is very good. This department have more number of experienced faculties in the college. Mechanical engineering department is also best in academics comprising all the years topper from the college itself in v.t.u. Dr.Sarnappa is the head of the department. No college in the city have such a vast student and faculty community.There is other department in basic science in first year like physics department ,chemistry department and math department. Physics department hod is Dr.Bhartidevi. Chemistry department HOD is Dr.RamchandraPelenge. Math department HOD is Mrs.TaslimaHayat. All of these hod are having much experience in their respective department.Moreover the best thing from other colleges in the city ,Revaitm goes on top is that the Reva faculty are too much helpful and nurture the student career.5 students are allotted a faculty as their mentor who help the students in all the four year right from the first year first class to the final year graduation day. The discipline in this college is better than any other colleges in the city.
PLACEMENT CELL: Placement in the college is the main backbone of the college. Placement cell is bigger than any other college of the city . There is a separate department in the college for the placement. Dr.Magheswaran is the head of the department of the placement department. Placement department is very eminent and efficient. Top recruiters like Infosys ,TCS , Wipro, Capgemini, L&T InfoTech, Amazon, Ntt data, Good Through, Subex, Triveni gears, Triveni turbines etc,. Hence the placement in the college is very good compared to other college like SVCE,KNSIT,and NMIT etc. in the city.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Revaitm has been involved in many types of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Such an huge number of activities are resisted in other colleges but are encouraged in our college. Our college is always a finalist in vtu cricket tournament. Many other sports are encouraged in the college as kho-kho, baseball ,volleyball ,table tennis , tennis ,chess, hockey, kabaddi ,soccer etc,. Gym in the college has all the technical things in the college hostel . Indoor stadium inside the college hostel is very much efficient has all types of indoor games like carom , chess etc,. No other colleges in the city have so much efficient indoor games stadium .Last year our college students won the hockey tournament organized by VTU. SunithaKumari from department of MCA won a gold medal in VTU Inter collegiate Cross Country Competition held at SJCIT, Chickaballpur on 12 February 2011.Reva students have been involved in many inter collegiate runs . They have won many medals in the competition . Every year Revaitm organises a 10 km marathon known as REVA RUN .Cricket league known as Reva Premier League (RPL) is organised every year . It is one of the most fascinating event of the year and is one of its kind in the city. Another biggest event is MBA fest were students from the department put their stalls to gain knowledge of their practicals and cope with the real world.But the biggest event of the all is revamp which is an international event and is organized every year on a regular basis. There are many event in this college fest such as sports, technical etc,. Fashion show is the main attraction of the fest. Fashion show of the college is the no.1 in the city college fest. The prize money given in the fest is also higher than any other colleges of the city.Every year any celebrity like Raghu etc,. Or bands like Agni band and village gurus will come in the fest. This year ChetanBhagat had came in the fest.
REVA ITM has become one of the youngest institution to upgrade in a university. REVA ITM has been one of the youngest institution in the city to achieve so many things in a very less time . REVA ITM not only show progress this recent years but also became the highest search on the yahoo search engine. All the technical student aspirants want to study in the college .REVA ITM student have shown discipline and enthusiasm in the recent past. Student of this college have been energetic in all the events and program of the college .in a short I can say that REVA ITM had been a place of learning and a knowledge worship institution. REVA ITM had been evolved in industry based knowledge learning.
