Bhubaneswar, the capital city of the state of Odisha, which has been famous as temple city for the hundreds of temples. GEC, our college which is located at Madanpur in Bhubaneswar, Odisha which is affiliated to BPUT. The university is situated in Rourkela, Odisha but most of the affiliated colleges of BPUT are in Bhubaneswar rather in Rourkela. Modern Bhubaneswar has become the hub of technical education of eastern India with its 60 Engineering, 3 Medical, 4 Dental colleges besides around eight general colleges. Recently survey shows that Bhubaneswar is one of the five fastest growing cities of India. Hence aright place to become a citadel of modern education.

Orientation
When new students are taking admission all of them are required to take one-day mandatory orientation program where they will receive important information about their course or program. The students will also meet their faculty’s members, getting to know about senior students and learn how to be prepared for their first day of class.
An independent college is not paid for/ controlled by government. Because now-a-days everyone are educated, so tuff competition to get job after completion of graduation. As private college trained their students to be well skilled in every field, where they focused on student communication skills and knowledge with extra-curricular activities. They also have an eye on behavior of the staffs and faculties effort and knowledge. Private colleges follows all the rules and regulations in every aspects but in government colleges it is not. No matter their all faculties are well educated and well trained but it is of no use. As because they not giving effort on studies and teaching. So better go with private colleges. Though and advice from staff and students who care about first year students does different programs to enhance the skills of the students.
Infrastructure
The Gandhi Engineering College established in 2006 situated in the city of Temple i.e. in Bhubaneswar in east India of Khurda district. The college is a permanent affiliated unit of BPUT and recognised by AICTE, New Delhi.
Most of all, our college infrastructure is better than any other colleges in our city. It is the best infrastructure I have seen.
The infrastructure of the college areso large than that of the colleges like REC and BEC.
Building
Like any other colleges, our college has a beautiful and big building divided into several parts such as main building, Knowledge centre building, student centre building, Hostels. ATM, Bank etc. This all means that we can get all the benefits of a large, and in a friendly environment.
The main building has various classrooms with boards and projectors and cameras in each rooms, different practical labs, and personality labs for all the students, auditorium hall, faculty chamber, Seminar halls, HOD chamber and Training & placement cell.
The principal’s office and main office are in the ground floor.
The difference with other college is that our college is well planned with wide area covered by the different buildings.
In our campus the most beautiful thing is that we have GANDHI sculpture which no other college have.
There are well designed chemistry labs, physics labs and a personality development labs comprises the infrastructural aspects of the department.
Keeping an eye of view the college has drinking water facility and bathroom. In every floor an aquaguard is fixed with chilled water facility and as I am a student of the college I have an experience that every time the sweepers are always doing their work and cleaning the each floor regularly for which I think our college want to be in safe side.
Auditorium
The college has its own Auditorium Hall built up in 4500 sq. ft. in the college campus with complete Hi-tech facilities such as Audio-Visual, Wi-Fi and projector with screen and very good sitting arrangement.
Knowledge centre building
There are separate building, in which a college successfully organised blood donation camps, arranges yoga camp for the growth of ethics in the first floor of the building and in the second floor it has library.
Library cum reading hall
The library spread over 12000sq. ft. of carpet area, has a rich collection for more than 25000 text and reference books. The DELNET featured provides access to the best of engineering, business, management, law & legislation and bio-technology related digital resources through subscription to various e-database. The college has introduced facility known as Electronic Library for both housekeeping as well as information retrieval. Since, it now has a high speed Wi-Fi connection for the students to do any sort of project work. The knowledge centre provide to access the best of e-journals like IEEE, Wiley – Black well, MC Graw Hill, Elsevier, ASTM, Springer etc.
There are different colleges like REC and BEC having library in their campus but I don’t think that like our college it have different building. It may situated at different location of the different areas.

College has its own transportation facilities to bring the student and staff i.e. teaching and non-teaching staffs from Bhubaneswar city and nearby town to the institution. Transport facilities is fully safest and well equipped.
As I am also going through the bus I am observing that the students are never getting bored in the buses, they are always looking energized whether going to the college at early in the morning or coming from the college at the noon.
GEC has an excellent transport facility for the faculty, staffs and students with flexible but no fare.
There are 24*7 ambulance facility is also there for the emergency purpose in campus.
Buses are well equipped with the music system for the comfort of the students, staffs and faculty.
Collegiate System

There are also scholarship for the students who are not been able to submit the college fees. Basically the students who belong to schedule caste and schedule tribe they are getting the facilities.
Class Rank: Fewer colleges are giving class rank which is highly importance to an individual, the students who gets the highest score they will be announced as class representative so they should look unique in their class, for that purpose they are provided a red strip in their identity card but the others students don’t have the red strip.
As far as I am concerned I don’t think that any other college is applying this method to show the student ability, may be they are apply the another technique for the student who is scoring well throughout their academic session.

Seminar
A seminar is generally a form of academic instruction or offered by professional and commercial organization. It brings the students together to do certain activities in a colleges where everyone is present and requested to actively participate.
The idea behind the seminar system is to familiarize students more extensively with the methodology of their chosen subjects and also allow them to interact with the examples.
Sports and Extracurricular
Almost every colleges focus extracurricular activities of the students such as music, academic clubs and sports. These activities offer opportunities for students to learn the value of teamwork, individual and group responsibility, physical strength and endurance, competition, diversity, and sense of culture and community. Extracurricular activities provides a channel for reinforcing the lesson learned in the classroom, offering students the opportunities to apply academic skills in real world.
Our college always give more stress on these activities. Every year the students are enjoying and participating in a different-different sports activities. Sports activities are held in Kalinga stadium every year in a winter season.
Activities like 400 meter race, relay race, high jump, long jump, putting the sort, javelin throw, discuss throw etc. are there.
After the sports activities will be over the Tech fest will be started. And I personally say that it is the best activities in which I have participated and earned prize money. In Tech fest activities like clay modelling, pot designing, canvas painting, rangoli, quiz, Robotics, GEC got talent, hang the fest, basket the answer, treasure hunt, etc. competition will be held.
And after the tech fest will be completed our cultural program are organised by our faculties. In which we can participate and perform on the stage. In the cultural program dance, song and drama are done.
It’s the best winter when all the students the colleges are participating in any of the activities to refresh their mind.
The co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, which keeps the students active throughout the year.
Excursion and Industrial tour
Every student want refreshment so therefore the program is to go to picnic or excursion. A trip is done from one place to another by travelling or staying there, usually for a short period of time and come back again. Every year when the new students are taking admission in the first year. They are given free trip to go to picnic.
Industrial tour is a tour where every colleges are going to increase their skills and knowledge. This program focuses on preparing the participants to learn about the day-to-day working of a particular industry and understand this issues.
The program helps the student to keep student abreast with the current management practices followed by the organisations and acquires that the industry demands of them.
FACULTY
Top class faculties members were there. Today only seven engineering colleges of Odisha have high performing result oriented faculty members, GEC is one among them. This is the main reason for its University results and campus placement and proved as the most disciplined college without losing any working day.
So the four year colleges and universities are institution for higher education. Although they all play an important role in educating students and helping people get their start in life, it helps to keep basic difference in mind which will be better for us.
Conclusion
I must say that our college is the best college which looks like Taj and is very beautiful. Students who look at the college will feel so proud to be part of it.
