Widely appreciated as a royal department of GITA,the department of Computer Science and Engineering was Established in 2004 with an initial intake of 60 seats and subsequently increased to 120 seats in 2009.The department strives to imbibe cutting-edge skills through research and development, industrial consultancy and high quality teaching.
The department is powered by 31 highly experienced faculty members with academic and research background and supported by 10 high skilled.
There are 10 state of the art laboratories to make the students technically sound in front areas like programming in’C’, Data structure, Database Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Architecture, Java Programming etc.
The department has collaboration with different professional bodies and industrial houses to conduct workshop, seminar, short term courses etc.
The department facilitates the placement of deserving students in reputed industries like INFOSYS, TCS, TECH-MAHINDRA, CAPGEMINI, COGNIZANT, MINDTREE etc.
Today employees of many reputed industries and research scholars of premiere industries are alumni of this department.
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is one of the major departments of GITA, Bhubaneswar, since its inception in the year 2004.it is very active in Teaching and Research in the areas of communications and signal processing, machine learning, microelectronics and VLSI and electronic system. The department is equipped with the state of the art modelling, computational, experimental, software simulation facilities for carrying out industry sponsored and consultancy research and development (R&D) Projects in various fields. Global Excellence in Teaching, Research and Technology development is the main concern of the department. It has renowned as well as young and dynamics personalities as faculty and involved in providing Quality Education at Ungraduate (UG) level. The department has industry interaction and signed MoU for the development of the students by conducting guest lectures, seminars, workshops and industrial visits. The excellent placement record for the last several years shows our determination with a rise to incorporate the fast changing technologies trends in the field of ECE.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
The program in Electrical & Electronics Engineering is a multidisciplinary course that aims to train engineers in the field of Core Electrical Engineering along with application of Electronics Engineering inn electrical. The focus of the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Branch is in the area of Power, Renewable Energy, Instrumentation, Electronics devices and communication. The curriculum covers a wide array of subjects ranging from Electric Circuits & Machines to instrumentation, Power Electronics, microcontrollers & PLCs and Digital Signal Processing etc. The Department is well equipped and has lab facilities in the areas of Electric machinery, Computer Aided Power Systems Analysis, Linear Circuit Analysis, Control Engineering, Microcontroller & PLC, Virtual Instrumentation and Communication Engineering.
Electrical Engineering (EE)
The Department of Electrical Engineering perseveres to create an environment that is conducive for students and faculty to achieve excellence in the field of academics and research. The Department has been playing a pivotal role in producing technologists of high technical competence ever since it was established in the year 2004. The School runs Under-Graduate Programmers and Post-Graduate programmers to cater to the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of Electrical Engineering sector, viz. Power Systems, Control Systems and Power Electronics. The Professors in Electrical Engineering have been drawn from diverse backgrounds spanning instrumentation, electronics, power, and computers.
Mechanical Engineering (ME)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering strives to be recognized for outstanding education and research leading to produce well-qualified engineers, who are innovative, entrepreneurial and able to take challenges in advanced fields of engineering and research.
The Department works with a mission to impart quality education to the students and enhancing their skills to make them globally competitive Mechanical Engineers. Maintaining vital, state-of-the-art research facilities to be provided to the students and faculty with opportunities to create, interpret, apply and disseminate knowledge. To develop linkages with R&D organizations, enterprises and educational institutions in India for achieving excellence in teaching, research and consultancy practices. Mechanical engineering is concerned with the responsible development of products, processes, energy and power, whether at the molecular scale or at the large scale of complex systems. Mechanical engineering principles and skills are needed at some stage during the conception, design, development, and manufacture of every human made object. Many innovations crucial to our future will have their roots in the world of mass, motion, forces and energy- the world of mechanical engineers.
Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering department of the institute started functioning; in the year 2012.it is endowed with well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty and committed supporting staff. Students of the department are highly enthusiastic and actively participate in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities apart from giving their best in academics. A congenial atmosphere prevails in the department and in particular between the teacher and the taught.
All the laboratories of the department are well equipped with advanced and sophisticated instruments, to fully the training needs of the students and to meet the research and consultancy requirements of the department. Conducting seminars, workshops and conferences on the latest developments and arranging internships, industrial visits and expert lectures for the benefit of the students are regular features in the department.
Masters in Computer Application (MCA)
The Department of Computer Application, established in 2008, focuses on contemporary and leading edge applications of computer. The dept. has modern facilities likes computer graphics lab, operating systems lab – supporting windows, Unix, Linux, software labs supporting C, C++, Java, Oracle, etc. and the development centre.
BUILDING
Gita College is well equipped with all the infrastructures needed for the career development of an individual. Our college structure is mainly divided into MAIN building, EAST block, WEST block and the SOUTH block.
Looking towards the MAIN building, this section comprises of CSE department. We have total of six labs in this section. Starting from the ground floor, we have ‘POWER ELECTRONICS LAB’. Our CSE staff section is also available there to guide the students. The Exam CELL is present in its premises where questions are kept very carefully and registrations for backlogs are done. Lift facility is also available in the main building. Our Principal and Dean Welfare OFFICES are also present in the ground floor.
The EAST block comprises of the OFFICE where all types of fees collections and records of the colleges are maintained, ‘PLACEMENT DEPARTMENT’ ,it’s Auditorium and the SMART room and three PANELS where personal interviews and GD took place,’ ENTERPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT’ and the LIBRARY lending department. The EDP cell situated in the second floor looks towards the students to do industrial trips and Industrial Trainings. They provide guidelines to the core sector students.
The SOUTH block comprises of the well disciplined LIBRARY where all types of course books are available, also there is a private room for the students to read and learn in a cool and noiseless atmosphere, various types of Magazines are also available there ,many novels etc. In the upper floor, we have Chemistry LAB and the Physics LAB. Also there is a big hall where large numbers of students are made to sit during examinations. We also have ENGLISH department there which is well equipped with computer screens, projectors and rooms where Group Discussions take place.
The SOUTH block comprises mainly of two wings, firstly the MECHANICAL and secondly the CIVIL one. The first two floors constitutes the mechanical labs , it’s staff rooms and various mechanical labs such as’ FLUID MECHANICS LAB’, ‘ HEAT TRANSFER LAB’, ‘ DYNAMICS LAB’ and so on.

Library is called the Warehouse of Knowledge. GITA, Bhubaneswar hasan impressive collection of over 30,047 books, 70 National & International Journals.
