Canteen:

BNMIT campus houses a hygienically maintained canteen in picturesque surroundings serving food to students through the day apart from catering at cultural and other congregations in the campus.

With a very friendly and qualified staff and the high qualify infrastructure, the college provided us with every possible facility and a great atmosphere. The main focus was always on academics, everything else was secondary. The placement office did its best to place most of the students in top companies. Today as I leave this institution, I have high hopes that BNMIT will reach new heights and become one of the premier institutions in the country.BNMIT was a great experience to me, where teachers were like friends when it came to explaining of concepts, having discussions or sharing of thoughts and opinions. With determination, dedication and sincerity great things can be achieved.

Placement:

The Department of Training and Placement of BNMIT is an active centre throbbing with various activities all through the year. The institute has complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the department.

A well organized Placement Department is working with a fulltime Director who continuously monitors the employment potentials and arranges the campus placements for the students. The faculty and student coordinators from all the departments also support the smooth running of the placement process.

Technical talks and national seminars are conducted to provide a platform for the budding engineers to interact with professionals from various industries.

Class rooms:

All class rooms are well ventilated, bright and conducive for studies. They are furnished with special dual seat, desks with scientifically designed back rest for seating comfort and alertness in class.Class Room Facilities The department has well ventilated class rooms which are also equipped with modern teaching aids.

Dr. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the modern Auditorium block and appreciated the newly constructed modern auditorium as one of the best he has seen.

Dr. Kalam mentioned that any institution is judged by the level and extent of research work it accomplishes which in turn, results in the development of technology. Technology is linked to economy and environment through manufacture of knowledge products. This in turn promotes prosperity in society.Elaborating on the latest developments Dr. Abdul Kalam mentioned about the convergence of information and communication technology finally leading to the development of nano robots which will have tremendous potential in health care, agriculture and other fields.

In his interaction with the students of Engineering and Management entitled “Culture of Excellence”, he exhorted the student community to be innovative and create wealth to the community through hard work, dedication and a zeal that the youth of today can accomplish anything and contribute to the realization of his Mission 2020.

He suggested that institutions with the help of faculty and students should adopt villages and call them “Puras”. Thus BNMIT can have BNMIT PURA in the out skirts of Bengaluru which can be developed with requisite infrastructure of good drinking water, sanitation and other essentials. In all this, technology and innovation can be combined to yield results which are beneficial to the mankind.

During his interaction with the students, Dr. Abdul Kalam suggested that they should become entrepreneurs rather than job seekers so that they can leverage technology to generate wealth and progress in the country.

Srishti sambhrama:

The festival brings over 100 artists of repute from across India to heritage temples to share their performances of dance, music, theatre, puppetry, fabulous legends and more every week-end from January 24th to the 8th of March 2015 creating health and well-being, touching the lives of a cross section of society.

The festival is being conducted on 26th, 27th and 28th September, 2014 at BNMIT Campus. The festival includes a thematic photography and art exhibition, screening of documentaries by international naturalists and conservationists, interactive talks on environment and ecology, legends of the mountains, panel discussions, and inter-collegiate debate competition.

His Excellency Sri. Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Governor of KARNATAKA has kindly agreed to inaugurate the festival.

The objective of the event is to bring an understanding of the relation between us and our environment and the impact the imbalance in Nature will have on mankind. We are also delving into our traditional knowledge systems to bring out the wisdom of our ancients in relation to environment and ecology. We hope to create awareness in our society and a sense of responsibility at the individual level towards a healthy environment and the imminent need for it.

‘Srishti Sambhrama’…the Earth Mother Festival brings together over 25 Naturalists, environmentalists, conservationists, ecologists, wildlife photographers, film-makers and scholars in BNM Institute of Technology Banashankari, Bangalore.

Nature club:

BNM FRIENDS OF NATURE CLUB established in 1995 believes that an understanding of nature will give each individual a better perspective of the world as well as himself. The nature club believes that the public should be made aware of the precarious situation our mother earth finds herself with regard to the Global Warming, Ozone layer depletion, consequent major changes in climatic conditions, erratic monsoon and the consequent floods and drought that would make healthy life on earth next to impossible.

The admission to the nature club is based on the performance of the student in the Entrance Test. Here the students are tested for their interest in wild life conservation and awareness of the environment, previous social activities undertaken etc.

The club is led by Sri Narayan Rao R Maanay, Secretary BNMIT and assisted by prof N Sheshaprasad and has about 300 student members. First and fore most, they are taught about the importance of our environment and its conservation, awareness about their responsibilities and knowledge of the flora and fauna.

Further, the members are exposed to adventure sports of Para sailing, Mountaineering, Trekking, Water Sports, Environmental Awareness Programs, Tree Planting, Bird Watching, field trips andbi-annual wilderness camps etc. along with regular audio visual programs and screening of Green Oscar award winning films & documentaries of wild life conservation and environment protection.

Most of the birds are going away from the city as in the name of development; thousands of trees have been cut everyday to broaden the roads. Hence this club has installed a number of NESTING BOXES along with BIRD FEEDERS to give the birds a safe place to live and breed. The members are also encouraged to do wild life photography & essay writing about the trip and the winners are given attractive prizes. The nature club gives most of the students an opportunity to break free from regular routine and experience the complex life in all its simplicity.

The major and satisfying achievement of the “Nature club” as well as the other units like cultural forum “Kala Bhageerathi”, the Sports association as well as the other associations is that the participants have an outstanding record in their academics improving from first class to distinctions and more. This has virtually quashed the common belief that students are distracted from their studies by taking part in extracurricular activities as felt by many parents.

BNM believes that the students in this age group are bubbling with energy and need to relax as they cannot be studying all the time. If they are not engaged in these productive activities to use their spare time and spend their energy, there is every possibility that they would use the same for unacceptable activities.

National service scheme:

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of BNMIT is participating in various social service activities, by conducting blood donation camps,

fund collection during national calamities & organizing rallies on various aspects of socio-economic and environmental issues. This unit is

running under NSS wing of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. During the current year, the BNMIT NSS unit Organized blood donation camp, Polio eradication campaign, distributed books and other stationery to the nearby Kadirenahalli Government School and

campaigned for reduction of traffic and Diwali cracker air and noise pollution.

BNM Photography Club:

The club provides an opportunity to the student members the art of creative, nature and wildlife photography and to capture the beautiful

moments with the able guidance of Prof. Eishwar. N. Maanay, where the members are also taught technology involved in photography at the exclusive editing studio and they edit the photos with the help of latest technology.
