AJAY BINAY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY is an ISO 9000:2000 certified institution in Cuttack, Odisha, India affiliated to the Biju Pattnaik University of Technology, Bhubaneswar. The institute was established in 1993 and is affiliated to AICTE. This group was established with the aim to improve availability of skilled technical manpower for industries as well as to enhance. The campus is located within the city limits of Cuttack and has a total student strength of over 2000. The main campus houses the Administrative block, Engineering, MBA and Architecture wings. The ITC wing is located in a second campus within a distance of 5 km from the main campus. The post graduate courses are conducted from the main campus.
THE PILOO MODY COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE IS COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURE (COA) recognized and is also a registered NATA test centre. The department of architecture is currently in its 21st year since its inception back in 1993.
This institute has a beautiful campus area covering individual blocks, garden area, path way, vehicle stand, food and refreshment area, etc… The college area is not much far away from the main city( compared to other colleges which are many kilometres far from city), this is a big advantage to the students belonging to other states or countries. Students of engineering , architecture, as well as of other courses of studies study in the same vast campus area.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND CAMPUS DETAILS
The school is situated in Cuttack, the cultural and literary capital of Odisha. The campus is at a distance of 25 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar. There are 5 buildings on two campuses. The college also provides hostel facilities to boys and girls and are located nearby, served by a regular bus service operated by the college.. Campus A houses architecture , engineering, MBA, MCA, and the junior science college, and Campus B houses the Industrial Training Institute (ITI). The library at ABIT is a 5,000 sq foot(460 m sq) space with a seating capacity of 100 students. ABIT has an adequate academic infrastructure with one administrative and 6 academic buildings since its inception.
There are a number of classrooms for the students with LCD projectors, faculty chambers, examination section, refreshment room(girls and boys), greenery and open air theater etc. Every classroom has is installed with a CC camera. All the floors have cameras present for proper functioning of the institute. Each floor has different laboratories according to each department. Electrical department has a separate building in which there is both EE and EEE sections. Mechanical block is also separate in which there are labs, workshops, etc. There is also separate area for
TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL where the placement trainer, officer are seated. The campus design and arrangement speaks about the perfection… The beautiful environment in the campus itself motivates anyone to join it whether its for a student or for a faculty member. Truly speaking facilities are upto the expectations. What people might think that, “ How will be the college ?”, “How will be the facilities?”, “How will be the faculty members, whether good or not?” and many more questions like these, after all parents will be getting their students admitted in the institution. So questions must be there in every parent and student’s mind. These questions can be answered by surfing in the net and the reality can be detected when someone joins ABIT.
Other colleges might have a very vast campus covering many acres but ABIT being in a not so big campus gives every facilities. Over last 19 years ,the group has built advanced infrastructure , engaged with premier institutes like IITs and NITs in the region to build academic and research capability. In addition there is a continuous effort to associate with industries for better industry orientation and skill readiness for students. During the last 2 academic year of education( third and final year) each engineering student has the opportunity to participate in technical projects, industry sponsored contests, industrial tours and technical contests organized by the institute.
FACULTY members have a far good knowledge about their respective subjects, which they give knowledge about to their students. Doubt clarification, assessments, proper guidance, motivation, every perspective of students are made satisfactory. Better practical knowledge is given by lab assistants and lab teachers. Good transport facilities for both teachers and students is given. Not to speak much more but to say a last line in behalf of the college that “ THE MOTTO OF ABIT IS SHOWING THE PATH FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT” as stated in the above lines too.

The main fact about ABIT is that it consists of both engineering and architectural studies in a single campus. One is modern technological studies and the other modern lifestyle structure invention studies.
IN CAMPUS FACILITIES:- In campus facility includes library , laboratories, auditorium, health care, canteen and cafeteria, etc.
LIBRARY:- The library present in the campus of ABIT is excellent. It has a rich collection of academic books, reference manuals, journals, periodicals, etc. It caters to the entire demand of students, faculty members and staff. The library has facilities like CDROM, photo copiers for students.
Racks containing various books are present. Books for each subjects of various authors, newspapers are present. Journals, magazines, general knowledge books, competitive exams books, project reports, etc are present in the library. Students can issue books for some duration and make the most use of it to gain knowledge. Faculty members can also make best use of the library present. According to the demands of the students and faculty members, new books and facilities are made. The library present can seat 100 students at one time. WI-FI facilities are also present in the library so that students can make use of the internet to enhance their knowledge. Photo copier machines are also present so that students can easily get their study materials.
LABORATORIES:-
A vital component of technical education is well- equipped labs with latest technology. Adequate numbers of computers are available to cover the academic and organizational needs. Each branch has different labs for different subjects. Labs are well maintained, guided, cleaned and regular testing of equipments are performed so that any equipment does not fail at the time of functioning. Lab assistants are well trained and can properly guide the students at the time of experiments being performed. Safety measures are taken so that students are not harmed by chemicals, or get electric shocks.
Many more labs in every block is present. Like mechanical block has workshop area, mechanical machines, Electrical block has electrical machine lab, power system lab, network theory lab, measurement lab, power electronics lab etc… laboratory files are supplied to the students by the college so that there is no need to buy from outside.
AUDITORIUM:-
ABIT provides an excellent ambiance for conference, seminars and presentations. It houses a seating capacity of near about 300. It is a large platform for the students to showcase their talents. Auditorium is air conditioned and computers and projectors are present for presentations and seminars. National seminars are held in the auditorium, tech fest events, technical competitions, etc are also held here.
HEALTH CARE:-
There is a health care centre where qualified professionals provide immediate medical assistance with warmth and care. It provides free medical consultancy to the students and staff members. Free medicines, free check up, free medical assistance is given. Emergency equipments are also present so that emergency situations can be dealt with those.
CANTEEN AND CAFETERIA:-
The institute has well maintained canteen which is the refreshment centre for students and staff. It serves delicious and hygienic food. The open air cafeteria serves soft and hot drinks, snacks, ice creams, etc. Stocks of food items are always present to serve the students and staff members. Every time hot tea and coffee is available. Seating area is present in front of the canteen so that students are seated while they have their food. Freshly prepared food stuffs are sold in the canteen and they are hygienic too. Drinking water coolers are present nearby. Students also maintain cleanliness by using the dust bin to dispose the waste materials and garbage. Everything is just very much well maintained. Canteen care taker is also very friendly to the students.
OTHER FACILITIES:-
There is a well furnished guest house for accommodation of delegates. Bank facilities for students and staff within the campus is present. Bank is present at the second floor above the health care chamber. All facilities for students is given in the campus bank branch. Fee deposits, transactions, draft deposits, etc are done. ATM is also present in the campus for quick money transactions.
WI-FI facility anywhere in the campus is present with good strength and range. Students and staff members can easily get access to the internet by the help of wi-fi connections. Students Can surf the net for their project purpose, study guidance, and many more purposes. Instead of wi-fi facility , internet lab is present for students use.
MAIN BLOCK:- The main block comprises the main building of ABIT. Besides the entry gate of the main block, map of the inner arrangement in the building is shown, so that new comers to the college can easily find their way. A public relation office is present, which answers the questions of the students and other people coming newly to the college.
Central library is present on the ground floor of the main block. Director’s chamber, principal and vice principal’s chamber is also present nearby the entrance. A camera room is present, where the live recordings of the college functional areas is displayed and recorded. Physics, chemistry laboratories are present nearby the library.
The main office is situated in this main block, on the ground floor where admission related work, student details, bank details are maintained. Separate examination section is present for examination related works. Admit cards for exams are given over here.
TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES:-
The transportation facility is given through buses. For local students as well as for the hostel boys and girls, buses are provided. Buses are always ready in the bus stand present in front of the college. Pick up and drop up of students is guided by a staff member, who guides the bus facilities.
TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL:-
A training and placement cell has great role in an institution. To train the students, make them eligible and ready to face campus interviews is very important. In today’s life, a job is very a difficult thing to achieve. If we have the talent, knowledge , experience, guidance, then only we can get a job. This can be guided by the T & P CELL. Trainers are present to train the students for campus interviews. Placement officers are present who can update us about many companies coming to the college and also at off- campus interviews.
PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY ACTIVITIES:-
Chapters of professional societies like ISTE, SESI, and Robotics Society of the Institute conduct various activities like; Seminars for students and staff,,, various competitions like essay, debate, quiz, presentation and workshop,,, Static and Dynamic model making,,, Making of Manual and Autonomous Robots for different uses, e.g. line follower, path finder, Robowar, Robo soccer, Robo race, pick and place by robots, etc.,,, Projects on Solar Energy for use in the college campus…
ORATOR’S CLUB:-
Institution has Orator’s club- a club to enhance public speaking, communication and professional skills. The club meets twice a week at Wednesday and Saturday for one hour each to conduct activities like: Extempore, Debate, Inter-personal Communication, Presentation, Group discussion, Quiz, Leadership, Short videos on shows to attain above skills.
NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEMES AND RIBBON CLUB:-
The institute has its NSS unit and RCC unit for social welfare and health awareness among students, employees and public of the local area. Different activities conducted by these units are;
Social welfare programs, Blood Donation camps, Health camps, Health awareness programmes like, seminars, rallies, exhibitions, lectures, etc, Blood safety awareness programmes, observation of important days and occasions for health and hygiene like World Health Day, World AIDS day. Essay, debate and quiz competitions relating to the above mentioned important days. Relief for flood victims, cyclone affected people and victims of any other natural calamities.
Exception to these various kinds of sports and health activities are held so that students and employees are physically and mentally fit to maintain work-life balance. Drama clubs are also held for extra-curricular activities of students which helps the students to improve their communication and language skills, problem solving skills, building imagination and creativity, Overcoming stage fear, empathy and many more… national seminars are also held.
WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS:-
ABIT facilitates workshops and seminar program to be held for the students. Every year national seminar is held at ABIT, sponsored by the AICTE. Professors from IIT’s and many other colleges come to give a presentation and seminars on new technologies. Students participate in Paper presentation, poster presentation and rewards are given to the winning team or student. Certificates are given to participants for participating in the seminar. Robotics workshop are held, ROCKET science engineering workshops are also held from which students are very much benefited.
IGNITRON- -THE ABIT TECHFEST
IGNITRON is the annual techfest at ABIT and is held in the institute premises. It is a multi-institute event and several engineering colleges from across Odisha as well as few from outside Odisha have participated in this event. In the last 3 events more than 15 institutes have participated. The event provides an avenue for students at ABIT and PMCA to demonstrate practical understanding of the subject matter. In addition, this develops a healthy competitive behavior and group working ability amongst students. Events like robotics, robowar, poster and paper presentation, essay competition, circuit design, computer programming, religious and cultural events like rangoli, mehendi, etc are held. Annual function is also held for the college students to enjoy their college life.
What not to speak about ABIT GROUPOF INSTITUTIONS… everything is just fantastic and amazing. All these cultural and technical fests improves students knowledge and their capability of learning. Rock bands are invited to the college for a pleasant evening function.

Lab assistants are trained and guided by the professors so that they help the students in the lab classes. Safety guidelines and instructions are given by the assistants during lab classes so that they do not get harmed by the equipments and machines.
For such a great organized faculty members, the students organize celebration and programmes to thank the teachers on TEACHERS DAY. Thanking the faculty members on this day helps to develop the student –teacher relationship better and better. The other workers and peons also help the student if any difficulty or problems arise. The public relation office members help the parents and outsiders coming to the college.
ARCHITECTURE BLOCK:-
The architecture block is a separate block which houses the architecture students and staff members. The essence and serenity of architectural studies can be seen when we enter the block. The design, structures, drawings, all define and represent this block.
ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL BLOCK :-
The electrical block and mechanical block is faced front to front. Separate labs and workshops are present. In electrical block there are labs for electrical machines, power electronics, electric drives, power system , electrical transmission and distribution, basic electrical engineering, network devices, etc.
Head of department room is separate for all branches. Motivational themes and pictures are present on walls to motivate students. Mechanical block has separate workshop labs, turbine labs ,etc. Safety equipment are present in each lab.
JUNIOR SCIENCE COLLEGE:-
The junior science college is situated in the campus and has a separate building. The junior students get administrated by their group of teachers. These students are new to college life and they are well guided by their faculty members. Lab facilities are available, study materials are given to them.
FINALLY, speaking about ABIT INSTITUTIONS, it is unique, incredible, facilitates students and staff members. The students of final year are placed in good companies and their lives are good going. What more is needed , if an institution has such great facilities……
