CHICAGO, IL / October 1, 2015 / Jay Grant, Secretary General of the INTERPORTPOLICE and Chief Don De Lucca, Chair of the 9/11 Award Committee, Chief of Police for Dural Police Department, FL. announced today the recipients of the 2015 9/11 Medals. Chief De Lucca stated, “Working with the departments and agencies we honor those around the globe who are fighting terrorism and serious transnational crime within their communities and protecting the transportation security networks globally.”
Secretary Grant further stated, “We made a commitment to honor our colleagues who gave their life in the line of duty on September 11, 2001. They were our friends, our colleagues and ‘We Shall Never Forget.’ We continue this tradition by honoring those who have distinguished themselves and have continued the fight.”
The INTERPORTPOLICE, a 46 year old international police cooperative organization, shield and the 9/11 Medal bear 37 stars paying tribute to the then incoming president of our board, Superintendent Fred V. Morrone and his 36 brave officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police; and also to the brave fallen officers of the New York Police Department. Each of these officers was an inaugural recipient of the International Police and Public Safety 9/11 Medal for Valor in 2012. Officers and officials are nominated from nine categories and selected to be honored by their peers and are among the best in the world in in law enforcement and public safety.
Police and public safety officers and officials serve each and every day fighting terrorism and serious crime across the globe in order to make the world a safer place.
