The Foreword Reviews’ IndieFab Book of the Year Awards, judged by a select group of librarians and booksellers from around the country, were announced on June 27, 2014 at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Las Vegas. Representing hundreds of independent and university presses of all sizes, IndieFab winners were selected after months of editorial deliberation over more than 1,500 entries in 60 categories. While competition was stiff from a strong field of contenders, J.M. Erickson’s Future Prometheus: Emergence & Evolution was awarded Honorable Mention in the adult science fiction.

Future Prometheus: Emergence & Evolution is a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world where humans and cybernetic life-forms struggle for dominance in a new world order. In addition to receiving Honorable Mention, the series also received a Kirkus Star rated review, a recommendation from U.S Review of Books, 8.5 out of ten rating from The Review Board, and is also Awesome Indies Approved. The novellas are garnering praise from literary circles:

“…He draws on classical references, and especially literature, in his work, and readers will likely appreciate the way he beautifully weaves in references to Mary Shelley, H.G. Wells and other masters of science fiction. Overall, it’s dystopian literature at its finest…”- Kirkus Review.

“The writing is highly engaging and lively. It’s very easy to get lost in the action and carried away by your involvement with the characters.”- US Review of Books.

“The book is competently put together, makes a ton of references to classic literature (roughly 5% of the book is quotes), has a robust amount of sensuality, a few comedic moments and a number of action movie-like sequences.” - Awesome Indies Approved.

“The level of research done in the book was obvious in the amount of details given–from quotes of old literature, to specifics in science and cryogenic sleep, as well as the technological bits. It was very impressive.” – The Review Board.

J.M. Erickson’s other works have also received awards and recognition such as receiving and Honorable Mention for Raven: Birds of Flight in action and adventure at the 2013 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards Contest. Presently, Eagle: Birds of Flight – Book Three is finalist in the 2014 CIPA EVVY Awards Book Competition in Colorado where winners will be announced in mid-August. Additionally, Future Prometheus and Eagle are both finalists in 2014 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards Contest. Winners to be announced in September!
