School officials said that a Republican candidate running for the GOP nomination in a Florida legislative seat fabricated her college background, and even faked her diploma. Melissa Howard doesn’t have the college degree from Miami University in Ohio that she claimed to have earned, according to FLA News Online. She even flew to Ohio on Friday to prove to the news outlet that she did attend the university but that didn’t work out too well.

The pro-Trump Republican even posted a photo of a partial college transcript on her official Facebook page and then later that day, she posted a picture of her sitting with her mother while holding a copy of a diploma.

Miami University General Counsel Robin Parker has confirmed to FLA News that the degree is a fake. Parker said that Howard did attend the university, but there is no record of her earning a degree in 1994 or 1996, as she has claimed. In fact, the university even said that they do not offer a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and that Howard would have earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences if she had graduated with her Retailing major.

And in addition to all of that (yes, there’s more proof that she’s a fake), the ‘diploma’ in the photograph displays signatures of university officials who would not have signed a diploma for a student graduating with a bachelor’s degree in that year.

The diploma Howard is holding contains the signatures of James C. Garland, President and Robert C. Johnson, Dean. Mr. Garland was President of Miami University in 1996, but Mr. Johnson was dean of the graduate school not the dean for either the School of Business nor the School of Education and Allied Professions. Johnson would not have signed Howard’s diploma.”

The Herald-Tribune also confirmed with the university that Howard did not graduate.

Howard pushed back on FLA News, calling its report a lie even in the face of so much proof to the contrary. She even demanded an apology from her Republican primary opponent, Tommy Gregory, even though he did not appear to have brought up her fake degree.

“Instead of providing evidence refuting the direct questions raised in the story, Ms. Howard chose to pivot and attack the Gregory campaign for lying about her record,” Gregory said in a statement, according to Florida Politics. “On the contrary, however, the Tommy Gregory campaign has made no statement of any kind related to the article, and while Ms. Howard may have some explaining to do, we will leave that to her, the media, and the voters of District 73.”

On Facebook, Howard describes herself as “a tell-it-like-it-is, no-nonsense, Trump Republican” and refers to the left as “unhinged.”

Meanwhile, it appears that Howard has taken down the picture of her and her mother sitting on each side of the fake diploma. The partial transcript is still up, though.  She just deactivated her Twitter account — AS ONE DOES when they’re totally innocent.
