One year ago today, white nationalists marched in Donald Trump’s name, shouting Nazi-era slogans while holding Tiki Torches. Heather Heyer, an anti-racist demonstrator, was only 32-years-old when one of Trump’s supporters used his automobile as a weapon, and mowed her and others down. Donald Trump and vice-president Mike Pence sent out tweets yesterday to condemn racism, but they failed to mention Heyer’s name or the so-called president’s policies that have emboldened white supremacists.
On Saturday, Ivanka Trump condemned white supremacy ahead of the anniversary of last year’s violent “Unite the Right” hate-rally in Charlottesville, Va.
“One year ago in Charlottesville, we witnessed an ugly display of hatred, racism, bigotry & violence,” she tweeted. “While Americans are blessed to live in a nation that protects liberty, freedom of speech and diversity of opinion, there is no place for white supremacy, racism and neo-nazism in our great country.”
“Rather than tearing each other down with hatred, racism & violence, we can lift one another up, strengthen our communities and strive to help every American achieve his or her full potential!” she added.

Twitter users were not amused.
True..so if @FLOTUS and her #BeBest campaign focuses on hubby @realDonaldTrump first…leadership in this way always comes from the top. So please start with Daddy first Ivanka!

Your father is the one tearing this country apart and encourages hatred, racism, and violence. He has sent a clear message how he feels about people of color, immigrants, women, and LGBTQ. Attacks on these people have increased. We will come together when he is gone.

I’m sickened by your stupidity. The insult of you saying….YOUR FATHER has the world stage and all he does is promote HATED and DIVIDED and RACISM. I believe that you GET what you GIVE and YOU ARE PARTY TO THE HATRED RIGHT NOW. You life will never be true or good or right. FU

On Sunday, white nationalists will gather for the “Unite the Right 2” rally, which is being billed as a “white civil rights rally,” on the nation’s capitol. Trump will likely respond to their presence much like he did last year after Heyer’s murder.
“What about the alt-left?” Trump asked in a classic example of whataboutism.
