2012 The Enchanted Napa Valley Vintage

The country’s most sought after wine region lived up to its legacy when hungry wine enthusiasts converged on the Napa Valley for the record breaking 2014 Premiere Napa Valley Barrel Auction. The wine auction brought in close to twice as much money as it did last year raising $5.896 million in 3 1/2 hours. With the highest price Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon selling for $260,000 for 5 cases of wine. When I interviewed Glen Knight from Los Angeles’ the Wine House he said his record breaking purchase of the 2012 Scarecrow lot “Toto’s Opium Dream: Scene III” was money well spent.

After attending this year’s Premiere Napa Valley, interviewing wine lovers, winemakers and tasting dozens of examples of the 2012 wine samples, one thing is certain 2012 is an Enchanted Vintage!

Watch the video and see interviews with Scarecrow Wine winemaker Celia Welch, Mt. Brave Wines winemaker Christopher Carpenter, Antica Napa Valley winemaker Nate Weis, and Louis M. Martini Winery winemaker Michael Martini.

When it was all said and done over 1,000 wine lovers from around the world savored 225 wines handcrafted that were made in the most well known wine growing region in the country. The average wholesale price per bottle sold was $283, a reflection of the rarity of these wines, which were made exclusively for this year’s Premiere Napa Valley event. The 2012 vintage is widely regarded as the best in recent history.
