Two private owner collections expected to bring in HK$60 million.
Not one, but two fantastic private collections of Bordeaux and Burgundy wines will be going to auction on 5 October boasting over 800 lots that are expected to garner up to HK$60 million. As part of Sotheby’s Autumn auction series, the day auction has both collections ‘A Magnificent Bordeaux Cellar‘ and ‘Important Burgundy and Bordeaux From A Private Cellar’ up for sale to the highest bidders.
The first auction, starting at 10am, includes as some of its highlights: the five First Growths of Chateau Cheval Blanc and some of its best vintages; Château Mouton Rothschild 2000; Château Margaux 2000; and a sweet delight with Sauternes from Château d’Yquem.
The second auction, and biggest with over 500 lots, compiles of Burgundy and Bordeaux wines as well as wines from Italy, Australia and Champagne. Highlights include: rare red and white Burgundy including Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Domaine Leroy, Domaine Comte Georges de Vögué plus Henri Jayer, Domaine Coche-Dury and Domaine Leflaive; Bordeaux wines from Château Mouton Rothschild 1982 (26 cases), Château Cheval Blanc 1982 (12 cases), Château Margaux 1990 (12 cases), Château Latour 1990 (14 cases) and Château Le Pin 1990 (3 cases); Rhone wines; Dom Pérignon and Krug Champagne; Italy’s Super Tuscans; and Australia’s finest from Penfolds Grange and Clarendon Hills Astralis. One of the most unique lots though is the unheard-of 46 cases of the legendary Château Haut-Brion 1989. This auction will be held at 12.30 midday.
