Munich may celebrate Oktoberfest from September 17th through October 3rd 2016, but here in Washington state we like to put our own special style on the traditional German holiday celebrating beer, sausages, family, music, dirndl skirts and lederhosen. With that distinct Washington style, we have some of the most highly regarded Oktoberfest celebrations in the country. Check back often for Oktoberfest updates!
Washington Oktoberfest Events Week of September 16-22, 2016
Sept. 16: (Seattle) Altstadt’s Oktoberfest Brewer’s Kick-Off runs from 4-10 p.m. and will include a traditional keg-tapping, live music with Lauren Murphie and the Sodo 4 and Oktoberfest food and beverages. They have assembled Washington brewers to bring their Oktoberfest beer. Alstadt will serve restaurant’s authentic and housemade German fare inspired by chef-manager Megan Coombes’ experiences in Germany. The traditional keg-tapping with Bitburger will spotlight the Benediktiner Oktoberfest beer.For $20, guests will receive a tasting mug and six tickets for German-style Oktoberfest beers from four local area breweries and one German: Seapine, Silver City (Oktoberbest and Uberfest beers), Alpine, Chuckanut and Bitburger (Benediktiner beer). Taste them all and vote for the audience choice that will receive special menu recognition and a craft beer cocktail for fall!

• Dampfnudel (savory or sweet): steamed dumpling with either bacon and emmentaler cheese, or vanilla sauce and plums

September 23-25: Fremont Oktoberfest hosts probably one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations in Washington State with something for everyone, even your dog! The Fremont Oktoberfest is one of those festivals considered one of the best Oktoberfests in the country.
Friday and Saturday Fremont Oktoberfest may resemble your large regular large Oktoberfest with beer, food, buxom babes busting out of their dirndls, guys in lederhosen or funky beer glasses. The highlight for many on Friday night is the Miss Buxom contest.

Sept 24: (Duvall) Old Rock Brewery Oktoberfest IS ON! September 24 Noon-9pm on Main Street in the lot across from the Visitor’s Center.
Oktoberfest supports the Rotary Club of Duvall- come have some Old Rock Brewery German beer, Bockwurst sausages and sauerkraut from Bavarian Meats, and live music! Come eat, drink, meet people, and support your community!

While many festivals on this list are Washington-centric, this is all about Germany/Bavaria. It has LOTS of German music, and mostly German food and beer. Saturday is the big day and is when their opening ceremony occurs with parade and the ceremony tapping of the keg by the mayor. Leavenworth Oktoberfest has 4 venues to spread out in as well as vendor booths to explore as you eat and drink and enjoy the various entertainment.

Sept 10: (Redmond) Black Raven Flocktoberfest celebrates the new release of Flocktoberfest Lager from 12-8pm in an outdoor beer garden with tent to shield you from the elements. Celebrate the Flocktoberfest release with 22oz bottles for sale, fun and games. Food options include Das Bratwagen food cart and locally made pretzels.
