Have a Valentine at the Olde Walkerville Theatre (1564 Wyandotte St. E.) — Shirley Valentine, that is. Allison Still-Berry plays the titular role in this one-character play about a bored middle-aged housewife who takes an impulsive trip to Greece that changes everything.

Suddenly Seymour

It’s your last chance to visit the Little Shop of Horrors. The comedy-horror rock musical as imagined by Korda Artistic Productions and Cardinal Music Productions has its final run of performances this weekend at the KordaZone Theatre (2520 Seminole St.).

Sometimes I feel I’ve got to … run away

Everybody could use some love on Valentine’s Day weekend. Aardvark Tailoring (1380 Wyandotte St.) is transforming itself into a nightclub for a one-time-only “alterna-queer” dance party on Friday night. Tainted Love will feature tunes chosen by DJ Choux, door prizes, and $5 drinks.

Did you know that Canadian musicians Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida are married? And that they’ve won six Juno Awards between the two of them? The melodious couple have combined talents for their latest project: Moon vs. Sun, which comes to Windsor’s Chrysler Theatre (201 Riverside Dr. W.) on Saturday.

She’s been demanding respect for half a century now — but it’s safe to say Aretha Franklin has earned plenty of it. Latin Love

Ballroom dancers Dwight and Theresa Davis will perform for the WSO’s Latin Fever concert on Feb. 13 and 14.

It may still be winter outside, but it’s going to be red hot indoors at the Capitol Theatre (121 University Ave. W.) this weekend when the Windsor Symphony Orchestra presents the latest concert of its Toldo Pops series: Latin Fever. Robert Franz will conduct the WSO and singers of the Windsor Light Music Theatre in south-of-the-border rhythms while professional dancing couple Dwight and Theresa Davis take the stage.

The next edition of Jamie Greer’s Scene & Heard series puts the spotlight on a queer-positive Windsor singer-songwriter by way of Scotland: Roisin Tuohy. She’ll be playing acoustic songs and chatting about her artistic journey on Saturday night at Villains Beastro (256 Pelissier St.).

Sure, it’s Valentine’s Day — that doesn’t stop people from loving comic books. The latest convention organized by Windsor’s Comic Book Syndicate happens Sunday at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts (201 Riverside Dr. W.). Comic Book SyndiCon will feature comic book creators, a cosplay competition, comic book trivia contests, and plenty of vendors.

Year of the Monkey

Windsor’s Chinese New Year celebrations continue on Sunday with free festivities at the Devonshire Mall (3100 Howard Ave.). The Essex County Chinese Canadian Association will be occupying the court in front of The Bay store from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. There’ll be choreographed performances (including a dragon dance), cultural displays, calligraphy, and traditional Chinese snacks for sale.

Here’s the plan

Canadian rockers Simple Plan bring their time-tested pop-punk sound to the Olde Walkerville Theatre (1564 Wyandotte St. E.) for a good cause next Wednesday: It’s a benefit concert for local charity Transition to Betterness. The band is gearing up for a tour to promote their new album Taking One For the Team.
