Happy Birthday to US! Our Goodreads Online Book Club has been up and running for about a year now, and what an eventful first year we have had. Globe trotting, time traveling, serial killers, child abductions, missing moms, and a zombie apocalypse – PHEW – we made it! Now it’s time to celebrate. For the next two weeks (June 14-June 28), anybody who comments on a discussion or votes in a poll on our Goodreads page will be entered into a draw to win a $75 gift certificate to Biblioasis, Best Buy, Chapters, Dr. Disc, or iTunes – winner gets to choose. Each participant is eligible for up to five entries. The winner will be announced on July 3rd.

For the month of June we are keeping our conversations open ended, so there’s no need to have read a specific book to participate. We enjoy book-related conversations of all sorts, and our members often share great reading recommendations with each other.
Online Book Cub? Why?
Our Online Book Club is great for people who like to engage in discussion, but have a hard time attending book clubs that meet in-person. All of our conversations take place online, and at your convenience. We focus on good reads and lively discussion – you will never be asked to prepare a literature themed potluck dish, clean your house to host the group, or engage in any other “traditional” book club rituals (except for the wine – still do that). It is a great way to squeeze book club into the busy-ness of your life.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the adventures of these last twelve months, and hope you look forward to joining us for another year of literary escapades. Several of you have touched base with us to share your excitement about our August read – Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. For many of us, it has been way too long since we’ve walked the halls of Hogwarts with Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of the crew.
