Windows 8, Launched in October 2012, later upgraded to Windows 8.1 almost a year later in October 2013 has been sold 200 million times including the upgrades. Windows 8 and 8.1 jointly count for 10.58% market share and is now the third most popular desktop operating system after Windows 7 and Windows XP.
Though the growth is not as fast as Microsoft expected or as was in the case of Windows 7. But Still, Windows 8 is not the new Windows Vista.
