According to Hormel, small shavings were discovered “on an in-line magnet check during routine cleaning.” Such shavings could cause injury including choking, airway obstruction, gastrointestinal perforation or secondary infection. The products being recalled include 16.3 ounce jars with a “Best If Used By” date of December 14, 2016.

Hormel says they have not received any reports of injuries or complaints caused by the shavings, but are implementing the recall out of an abundance of caution.
